Hidden Gems: Meet Rebecca Paciorek of Blue Dot Digital Marketing & Online Business Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Paciorek.

Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was doing a few side gigs for realtors in 2010 and then, during the recession, my husband and I both lost our long-term jobs within 2 weeks of each other. It was pretty devastating, to say the least. He quickly got a new job. I had been in advertising sales and used to good money. My mom had recently passed away from a long, exhausting cancer battle and I just couldn’t go back to the stress of sales.

Since I have a marketing degree, I looked for a job in that. They were mostly entry-level jobs so I did some temp jobs for a bit and told my husband I thought I should “create my job.” We came up with a goal of me needing to get $2500 per month by the end of that summer. I got to about $2400. We decided I would keep going. I was up to a decent full-time income within a couple of years and just kept going. Eventually, I had to start hiring some help.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a business is always a challenge. While it’s been amazing with the flexibility, there we some bumps along the way as I learned how to be an entrepreneur. How do I price my services? How do I nicely tell my clients that I’m not working weekends and evenings? How do I raise my rates? Where do I find MORE clients? Where do I find people to help me?

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Blue Dot Digital Marketing & Online Business Management?
We specialize in helping small businesses increase their digital presence online. (Yeah, sounds like the 30-second elevator speech.) This means that we strategize with them to find out where their customers are hanging out online and we help them craft a strategy to reach those people. From social media and emails to blogging and podcasting, we’ve done a bit of all of that.

My top Clifton Strengths are Strategic and Achiever. My clients seem to appreciate that as they usually don’t know how to get it all started and I’m able to brainstorm and strategize with them, create the plan, and start helping them check things off the task list. As a past Realtor and real estate marketer, I work with a lot of Realtors. I also like to work with authors and coaches as I’m an avid reader and self-growth enthusiast.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a mentor, a coach, and a tribe of people who “get it” is really important to your business. Even though I’ve been in business since 2009, I only just last year hired a business coach for the first time. I had been in a slump and was unsure where to go next in my journey. She helped me define that path and some of the steps to get there.

Then, this summer, I started working with another coach in a short-term container. She pushed me to step out of my comfort zone to do the things I needed (but didn’t always want) to do to keep stepping towards those goals. One of the things I’ve learned in the last year is to hire a mentor who has reached the pinnacle you are striving for. They have to have been there to know the path.

My current coach fits that bill. Not only has she reached several of the benchmarks I’m striving for, but she has also created an amazing community of people that understand the life of a female entrepreneur. The Wealthy Queen Community (Nellie Corriveau) is filled with amazing, smart, strong women that help each other to succeed. I’m so grateful to have found a way to become a part of that.
