Hidden Gems: Meet Raven Reed of Raven Reed, Realtor®

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Reed.

Raven, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Raven Reed and I’m an award winning, and mega-million dollar producing Realtor® with Key Realty LTD. I specialize in luxury, residential, and even commercial real estate in the Vacationland Area (Catawba, Marblehead, Port Clinton, and the entire Lake Erie Island/Peninsula Area). I’m a go-to source for all things real estate, and have been published by Yahoo Finance!, Influencive, The Penny Hoarder, Apartment Therapy, and Agent Advice just to name a few. Most excitingly, I’ve accomplished all of this in less than two years, all while being a full-time mom!

I was a natural born entrepreneur ever since I was a little girl. I was always hitting the ground running trying to find creative ways to make money. From Lemonade stands, to car washes, to welding at my dad’s steel yard. Then at the age of 17 I started my first business “Makeup by Raven” which allowed me to travel the world beautifying women on pageant stages across the nation. I did this for nearly a decade, and also obtained a college degree along the way. After nearly a decade I decided it was time to hang up the makeup brushes and pursue my degree field of broadcast journalism.

I quickly found success in journalism and began excelling in my career at a fast pace. I first obtained an internship with ESPN Cleveland, WKNR. There I was able to observe and learn the ropes of the radio business on The Really Big Show featuring Tony Rizzo and Aaron Goldhammer. During the process I was approached by long time Cleveland sports personality, Matt Loede, who would go on to be my mentor. He brought me on as a freelance locker-room reporter covering the Cleveland Indians in conjunction with NBC News Radio. Prior to my internship with WKNR concluding, I was hired into 106.5 The Ticket, another ESPN affiliate station with Cumulus Media located in Toledo. I was brought on as a producer and on-air personality. Although I absolutely loved what I was doing, the hours were long and flexibility of my schedule was slim.

Then I took on my greatest role yet, mom. I quickly found out that flexibility with my schedule was crucial to being as present as I wanted to be in my daughter’s life. That’s what lead me to real estate. I learned I could make upwards of six-figures in this field, and still have ample time with my child. This meant EVERYTHING to me. So I slowly started the transition, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made!

My first year in, I hoped to simply sell $1M in real estate. An achievement that less than 10% of Ohio Realtors will earn per ohiorealtors.org. I doubled that and closed out my year with over $2M in sales. This year I set a goal to hit $10M, and people thought I was crazy. I’ll close out this year with over $13M in transactions, and I did it all on my own!

Even though I’ve seen incredible growth, my beginning was less than ideal. I achieved my license weeks before the global pandemic hit, creating a huge stumbling block for any new Realtor. Instead of seeing it as an obstacle, I saw it as an opportunity. Instead of panicking, I turned to education. I earned two designations, including the Real Estate Negotiations Expert (RENE) and Commitment to Excellence (C2EX). I was even asked to be a guest panelist for the Realty Executives International Conference.

When I was ready to emerge, I found myself in a new community, with almost no contacts, and a newborn baby. Everyone told me to walk before I could run, and not to overshoot my goals. But I believed in myself and smashed every single goal I set, and then some. When I came up with a plan that people said was “impossible,” I made it possible. Trusting in myself, and my willingness to invest in myself when nobody else would.

I put my media and entrepreneurial skills to use, and have grown my brand extensively. The only way I was able to do that was all thanks to the clients that took the leap of faith with me and trusted me every step of the way. Without my clients and my community, I would have nothing!

Because of that, I am extremely passionate about community involvement. I’ve worked with many non-profit organizations and served as an Ambassador for the Livestrong Foundation. I’ve also had the privilege of representing the great state of Ohio in several national pageants such as Miss United States, Miss International, and Miss Galaxy.

This year, I’m starting out my New Year with a new brokerage and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Key Realty LTD offers me so many incredible tools and training opportunities to continue to grow and prosper my business. It’s a brokerage for agents, created by agents. So they really get it! I have a few more exciting things up my sleeve, but my lips are sealed until they’re completed. So stay tuned and watch, because my journey/expansion is still only just beginning! We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No way!! I feel like my road has been struggle after struggle. So many nights filled with tears and anguish. Moments away from wanting to quit, but forcing myself to pick myself back up again. The road isn’t always easy, and sometimes it can even be lonely. You owe it to yourself though to succeed!

What’s next?
New Year with a new brokerage, Key Realty LTD. Lots of other amazing things in the works, but those secrets will stay safe with my for a while until it’s time to launch them!
