Today we’d like to introduce you to Purna Devi.
Hi Purna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My path into this work began long before I ever received a certification or opened a business. I grew up in an environment that was deeply challenging and, at times, traumatic. Like many people, I spent years carrying the effects of those early experiences without fully understanding how much they shaped my relationships, my sense of self, and the choices I made.
For decades, I lived out patterns that were born from those wounds. I people-pleased. I abandoned myself. I stayed stuck in cycles that felt familiar, even when they were painful. Along the way, I made plenty of mistakes. I hurt myself, and at times others, from places of fear, survival, and unconsciousness. My healing journey has never been about perfection. It has been about honesty.
Yoga was one of the first doorways that helped me reconnect with myself. What began as a physical practice eventually led me into mindfulness, meditation, shadow work, nervous system healing, inner child work, and a deeper exploration of spirituality. As I began to understand my own patterns and the roots beneath them, I realized that healing is about much more than feeling better. It is about learning to meet the parts of ourselves we have rejected, hidden, feared, or forgotten.
That understanding became the foundation of my work through Purna Devi Healing Arts. Today, I support people navigating many of the same struggles I have known firsthand… childhood wounds, self-doubt, anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the feeling of being disconnected from themselves.
Because of my own journey, what people get when they work with me is not spiritual performance or someone pretending to have all the answers. They get a real human being who has lived through hardship, done the ongoing work of healing, and continues to learn and grow. I believe that our wounds do not disqualify us from helping others; when we are willing to face them honestly, they can become some of our greatest teachers.
My work is rooted in the belief that healing is not about fixing ourselves. It is about remembering who we are beneath the conditioning, survival strategies, and stories we’ve carried. It is a privilege to walk alongside people as they reclaim that wholeness for themselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that healing work requires the same resilience that healing itself requires. I’ve had to adapt, grieve losses, reinvent myself, and keep moving forward more times than I can count.
In 2017, I opened my first yoga studio, which felt like a dream come true. Unfortunately, due to issues with the building, I was forced to close the space. It was heartbreaking to put so much energy, passion, and hope into something and watch it come to an unexpected end.
A few years later, I opened a healing arts office in February 2020. I had barely gotten settled when the world shut down in March because of COVID-19. Overnight, I had to rethink an entire business that was built largely around in-person connection and hands-on work. Like many small business owners, I faced uncertainty about what would come next.
What emerged from that challenge was something I never could have predicted. I shifted my work online and began creating virtual spaces where people could connect, heal, and find support during a time when so many were feeling isolated, anxious, and disconnected. Those years taught me a great deal about adaptability, creativity, and the power of community. Since then, I’ve worked virtually, from home, and out of other practitioners’ studios while continuing to serve clients and grow my practice.
In May 2026, I was finally able to open my own healing arts office again, this time in the heart of downtown Centerville. After everything that has happened over the past decade, it feels incredibly meaningful to once again have a dedicated space where people can gather, heal, and reconnect with themselves. I’m excited to be back out in the world in this way.
The business challenges are only part of the story, though. Some of the hardest struggles have been personal. I’ve navigated my own mental health journey, sobriety, complicated family relationships, single motherhood, financial uncertainty, and the ongoing work of healing from childhood wounds. There were many times when I questioned myself, my path, and whether I had the strength to keep going.
Looking back, I wouldn’t say those struggles happened separately from my work, they became part of it. The challenges I’ve faced have deepened my compassion and understanding of what it means to be human. They remind me every day that healing isn’t about having a perfect life. It’s about learning how to meet life with honesty, courage, and a willingness to keep growing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Purna Devi Healing Arts has evolved into something much bigger than I ever imagined when I first started. Sometimes I joke that I feel like the goddess with many arms because there are so many ways I support people in their healing journeys.
At its core, my practice is a holistic healing space that addresses the mind, body, heart, and spirit. I offer bodywork ceremonies, which many clients describe as being far beyond a traditional massage. These sessions weave together therapeutic touch, energy healing, intuitive guidance, nervous system support, and deep presence to create a transformative healing experience. I also offer Reiki, hypnotherapy, subconscious reprogramming, spiritual guidance, and mentorship for people navigating personal growth, life transitions, and healing from old patterns and wounds.
One area of my work that has become especially meaningful is supporting other healers. Through Reiki certification, mentorship, and professional development, I’ve had the privilege of helping many people step into their own intuitive gifts, deepen their confidence, and build meaningful healing practices of their own. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching someone move from doubting themselves to fully embodying their calling.
Community is also a huge part of what I do. In addition to private sessions, I host specialty yoga classes, meditation groups, sound baths, workshops, and a seasonal book club that brings people together around mindfulness, spirituality, and personal growth. Healing can be deeply personal, but it is also something that happens in community, and creating spaces where people feel seen and connected is one of my greatest joys.
Beyond my practice, I have the opportunity to participate in several podcasts, including Awakening – Heaven on Earth, alongside a brilliant and dynamic cohort of people exploring spirituality, consciousness, healing, and what it means to create a more connected world. Those conversations continue to inspire and challenge me in the best ways.
If there is one thing that sets my work apart, it is that I don’t believe healing happens through judgment, perfection, or hierarchy. My approach is deeply human. I meet people where they are. I know what it feels like to struggle, to question yourself, and to find your way back home to yourself. Because of that, I strive to create a space where people can show up exactly as they are.
What I am most proud of, brand-wise, is the inclusive community that has grown around this work. Over the years, I have had the honor of walking alongside people from many different backgrounds and identities, including BIPOC, queer, and trans individuals, as well as people from a wide range of spiritual and life experiences. While my client base has primarily been women, with a few men sprinkled in over the years, my intention has always been to create a welcoming and affirming space for anyone seeking healing, growth, and deeper connection with themselves.
More than anything, I want readers to know that Purna Devi Healing Arts is a place where all parts of you are welcome. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to be “fixed.” You simply have to be willing to show up. From there, healing has a way of unfolding.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’ve thought about this question a lot over the years. From one perspective, you could say I’ve had quite a bit of bad luck. I’ve opened businesses that were forced to close because of circumstances outside my control. I’ve experienced building issues, a global pandemic, financial uncertainty, family challenges, and plenty of personal setbacks along the way.
But the older I get, the less I see life in terms of luck alone.
Some of the experiences that felt like the worst luck at the time ended up shaping the person and practitioner I’ve become. When my first studio closed, I was devastated. When my healing office opened in February 2020 only to face a shutdown weeks later, it felt surreal. Yet those experiences forced me to become more adaptable, creative, and resilient than I ever would have been otherwise.
If there has been good luck in my life, I think it has shown up through people. I’ve been fortunate to encounter incredible teachers, mentors, friends, clients, and community members who believed in me, supported me, and encouraged me to keep going when things felt impossible. Every meaningful chapter of my life has been touched by people who appeared at exactly the right moment.
I also recognize the privilege of being able to continue rebuilding when things fall apart. Not everyone gets that opportunity, and I never take it for granted.
What I know for certain is that perseverance has played at least as large a role as luck. There have been many moments when it would have been easier to quit, choose a different path, or decide that the obstacles were too great. Instead, I kept taking the next step, even when I couldn’t see very far ahead.
Today, sitting in my healing arts office in downtown Centerville, I sometimes look back at everything that had to happen to get here. The closures, the pivots, the heartbreaks, the lessons, the healing, the unexpected opportunities… they all became part of the journey. Whether that was luck, grace, or simply life unfolding as it needed to, I’m grateful for all of it because it taught me how to trust the process and keep showing up.
That’s a lesson I now get to share with the people I serve every day.
