Hi Khoi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sip Boba Tea started as a dream when I was just 15 years old. I wanted to bring something different to my community, something that could showcase diversity in a unique way—boba tea felt like the perfect choice. From 15 to 17, I worked on developing business plans and experimenting with ingredients, turning my ideas into something real. At 17, I began knocking on doors, selling my drinks directly to raise the funds needed to bring my vision to life. By the time I turned 18, I had saved enough to launch my boba trailer, and the rest is history.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t been entirely smooth. One of the biggest challenges I faced was balancing my time as a full-time student at the University of Akron while also making door-to-door stops to raise money for my business. It was tough juggling schoolwork with the demands of saving up to build the boba trailer, but I stayed determined and kept pushing through. Biggest thing I had learned was not to give up.
We’ve been impressed with Sip Boba Tea, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is the unique recipes I’ve created—each drink is crafted with care, and we’re not just here for the money. Our drinks are priced affordably at $5, making them accessible without compromising on quality.
I’m incredibly proud of how far the business has come, especially with the growing community support. Our aesthetic, with live plants, adds a touch of life and energy to our brand. At Sip Boba Tea, we’re all about delivering the perfect drink and exceptional service, ensuring each customer finds the right beverage for them.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is bringing smiles and happiness to my customers when they get their drinks. I love seeing the joy on their faces as they leave, enjoying not just the drink but the whole Sip Boba Tea experience. People really appreciate the setup of the trailer, and that connection with them motivates me to keep going. It’s this sense of joy and community that drives me to continue making the best quality drinks for my customers.
