Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Craig.
Hi Kari, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My road to pelvic health was a long and interesting one with lots of bumps. I had always thought about getting into pelvic health prior to having my own kids but was met with resistance, so I just ignored the desire. Once I had my son, I experienced some of my own pelvic floor issues and was told I would likely have surgery once I was done having kids with little intermediate conservative help answered. That was just the push I needed to start taking the courses and helping myself through my issues.
With this new found knowledge I started a pelvic health program within the clinic I was working at. This was very successful and demonstrated the need for more pelvic health care in the area. I looked for other positions that would fulfill that need for a while without success, so I decided to do it on my own.
In March of 2020, I opened my own clinic, Kare Pelvic Health, where I could treat patients the way they deserved and how I wanted to treat them. I immediately hit another roadblock of COVID and by the end of my first week in business the whole US seemed to be shut down. I ended up having to stop treating and provide only virtual care between March and May. In May, I was able to open my doors again and have had a steady climb from there.
In the summer of 2021, it became evident that there was more need than I could fill, so I started looking into expanding by hiring another provider. Since then, we have moved into a bigger space that we built out, made our own, and added another provider! It has been a crazy journey, but also awesome to continue to expand our reach to more individuals and provide the type of health care everyone deserves.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles was COVID hitting the exact time I opened my business doors. It forced me to change direction temporarily and then navigate the business and life differently than I have ever anticipated.
Some of the other struggles I had were finding staff and a space that fit our vision for what we wanted to provide for people.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Kare Pelvic Health?
Kare Pelvic Health is a multidisciplinary specialty pelvic floor therapy clinic in Northeast Ohio aimed at helping women, men, and children find lasting relief from leaking, prolapse, sexual dysfunction, pre/postnatal care, pelvic pain, and more. We believe in helping you get back to everything you enjoy without restrictions while also providing you with the highest quality care.
Kare Pelvic Health is different because we are patient-first focused. We have set up the practice to help patients achieve their goals without the barriers that are often placed on healthcare providers. When you call us, you will always speak to an educated individual and not centralized scheduling, you will be treated in a calming comfortable room not in a room right next to a busy gym.
We are proud to offer a space that is non-medicalized and comfortable for individuals to come heal from some of their most intimate issues. We will work with you along the way, creating a plan that fits you and your busy schedule.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I feel like I have definitely had some bad luck with things like COVID and staffing, but I also think those things provided huge learning opportunities and growth both personally and with business.
