Hi Julian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Surprisingly, I’m a professional saxophonist and arts administrator. After my college graduation in 2015, my journey took an unexpected turn. Faced with a moment of creative impasse after a brief hiatus from music, I discovered a new passion behind the lens of a camera. Little did I know that this spontaneous venture into photography would eventually become my full-time job.
The COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the arts industry and abruptly halted my endeavors as an arts administrator in New York City. I found myself at a crossroads and decided to embrace photography as more than just a fleeting escape.
As I continue to navigate the unpredictable landscape of a freelance photographer and business owner, every frame captured is not just a visual representation but a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the relentless pursuit of artistic fulfillment. It’s crazy to me that what began as a spontaneous response to creative yearning has blossomed into a transformative journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any journey, there have been both highs and lows. However, as all entrepreneurs are aware, the path can be somewhat uneven and not always as seamless. There was a period during which I oscillated between a full-time job and full-time entrepreneurship due to the uneasiness that being a business owner stirred in my heart. After finally taking the leap, I find myself much happier pursuing what I love.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One cherished childhood memory that holds a special place in my heart is celebrating Christmas with my family. The love, joy, delectable food, and sheer happiness that marked those holiday seasons are sentiments I aspire to pass down to my own family in the future.
