Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Burrow.

Hi Julia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a child and adolescent psychiatrist with double board certification in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry. I completed my training at the University of Michigan with plans to return to my hometown, Perrysburg, Ohio to practice. Ten years ago I opened the doors to my private practice with a goal to bring specialist-level care to my hometown. Our group of psychiatrists and psychotherapists work collaboratively to bring evidence-based care to both pediatric and adult patients with mental health conditions. We have grown from a small practice with 4 staff to a team of 5 psychiatrists (including 1 Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist), 9 psychotherapists, 1 dietitian and 3 office staff!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening a small business is always a challenge but keeping in mind that this is typical for the journey has helped me to maintain perspective. On the journey I’ve experienced bumps on the road including an abrupt closing of our physical office during COVID-19, changes in staff requiring our patients to transition to new providers and everyday challenges of obtaining medication approvals from insurances. These challenges have helped our team to grow stronger, carefully avoiding the same pitfalls and advocating directly for our patients to receive the care they deserve.

We are a psychiatric practice that employs psychiatrists, psychotherapists and a dietitian to provide comprehensive mental health services. We provide diagnostic assessments, medication management, psychotherapy services, nutritional services to compliment mental health care and we are proud to announce the future addition of a health and wellness coach! We are proud of our top notch, evidence-based, collaborative approach to mental health care. We believe that we provide the best service where our prescribing psychiatrists work directly with our therapists in the same office for seamless care. What we do better than the rest is providing personalized healthcare with the individual patient in mind. We manage all of our business management on site, to avoid unneccessary insurance denials or barriers to care!

Child and adolescent psychiatry is subspecialty service and we are proud to be the only private practice in Northwest Ohio that employs 4 board certified child and adolescent psychiatrists/psychiatric clinical nurse specialists and 2 board certified adult psychiatrists.
