Hidden Gems: Meet Eman Ewais of Eman Eats Nutrition // Eman Bakes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eman Ewais.

Hi Eman, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been passionate about healthcare and knew I wanted a career where I could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. After earning my bachelor’s degree in Biology, I originally planned to attend medical school. But as I reflected on what truly excited me, I realized I was most interested in helping people improve their health through nutrition and lifestyle. That realization led me to pursue my master’s degree in Nutrition, complete my dietetic internship, and become a Registered Dietitian.

At the same time, another passion unexpectedly took off. During COVID in 2020, a friend asked me to bake her a birthday cake, and that became my very first cake order. What started as one cake turned into a home baking business that I continued building while I was in graduate school and throughout my dietetic internship.

People always laugh when I tell them I’m a dietitian by day and a baker by night, but to me those two worlds fit together perfectly. Food is so much more than nutrients—it’s medicine, it’s comfort, it’s celebration, and it’s one of the ways we show love. Whether I’m helping someone improve their health or creating a cake for a special milestone, I feel fortunate to use food to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been the smoothest road. Like most small business owners, there have been plenty of moments where I questioned my skills or wondered if I was doing enough. Building a virtual client base across several states and growing a bakery at the same time took a lot of patience, long hours, and learning through trial and error. Balancing both businesses while also becoming a mom has probably been my biggest challenge, but it’s also been the most rewarding. Every obstacle has taught me something, and looking back, I’m proud that I stayed consistent and kept moving forward, even when things felt uncertain. I am grateful for a career that allows me the flexibility to work from home and on my own hours.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a registered dietitian, I run a virtual private practice where I work with clients on weight management, diabetes, PCOS, heart health, and overall wellness. I enjoy helping people find realistic, sustainable habits that fit their lifestyle instead of focusing on restrictive diets. When I’m not seeing clients, I’m usually in the kitchen running my home bakery, creating custom cakes and dessert table treats like mini cheesecakes, cupcakes, cake pops, and chocolate-covered sweets for all kinds of celebrations.

While nutrition and baking might seem like opposite worlds, they both allow me to do what I love most—bring people joy and make a positive impact. I think what sets me apart is that I bring creativity, compassion, and a personal touch to everything I do, whether I’m helping someone reach their health goals or creating desserts for one of their biggest milestones. I am most proud of how far my baking skills have come these last few years as I am a self-taught baker. I always look for ways to improve my baking and decorating techniques through videos online.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is being able to do work that I genuinely enjoy. I love helping people feel better and reach their health goals, and I also love the creative side of baking and bringing someone’s vision to life for a special occasion. Seeing a client’s progress or a customer’s reaction when they see their cake never gets old.

Outside of work, my favorite thing is spending time with family. They keep me grounded and are the biggest reason behind everything I do. I will never forget the first cake order I did when I was still living with my family, I was up until 1:00 AM with a kitchen full of dishes post-baking trying to figure out how to make the cake fit in the box since the box was too small! Then, my mom came to the rescue and helped me figure it out!

Cooking also makes me happy. In my Palestinian culture, cooking is a love language. It’s how we care for the people we love, bring everyone together, and create lasting memories. Some of my favorite moments are spent in the kitchen with family or outside around the grill, talking, laughing, and eating the food that was made with love (and good seasonings). There’s something so comforting about sharing a homemade meal with the people you care about. It’s not just about the food—it’s about the connection, the tradition, and the feeling of home that comes with it.
