Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Barry.
Hi Deanna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am from NE Ohio, did my schooling and training in Florida, and started my first job there. We moved back home to be near family when my husband and I started having children. I worked for a local large hospital system for 5 years before deciding to go out on my own. I knew I wanted to shift gears and find a way to practice on my own terms and being self-employed and independent private practice in the Direct Primary Care model has shown to be the perfect fit.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were many unknowns, fears, risks when deciding whether or not to take the jump. Surprisingly, things did seem to fall into place and have felt “right” from the moment I gave my notice, letting me know that it was the right decision for me and my family.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Barry Pediatrics?
Barry Pediatrics is a direct primary care pediatric office. I was the first exclusively pediatric DPC to open in the state. I am proud to offer personalized care for children, from birth through college aged. I focus on bringing medicine back to what it should be and used to be, the doctor-patient relationship. I am able to eliminate the unnecessary barriers and red tape often experienced in fee-for-service medicine by removing the confines and interference of insurance. I am able to see fewer patients, spend more time with each family, provide better care, and radically change their healthcare experience. The beauty of my practice is that I have the freedom to do what is best for every child, all of the time! I can give my undivided attention to my patients and offer evidence-based, high-quality, and simple pure medical care.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I have wanted to be a doctor since I was a young girl. I have always wanted to help others and fix problems I saw around me. I enjoyed volunteer work and building relationships. I was driven and motivated.
