Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Rucker.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in the industry as a songwriter. I have written songs for the likes of Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Kut Klose, and tons of other artist. Being from Cleveland, OH, I was introduced to the legendary Gerald Levert through mutual industry peers. Because of my desire to develop talent, he introduced me to some Record Execs that offered me an A&R position. That lead to the start of me becoming a Music Executive. In Fall 2006, I was starting to get frustrated with the artist that the labels wanted me to work with. That frustration later changed to positive energy in which I decided to start my own record label, “Global Exec Records”. I am also a co-founder of the clothing line, Moxy Clothing Apparel that was started with childhood friend and business partner, Justin Chapman. Moxy is an urban high-end lifestyle brand that currently has shoes, t-shirts, hats & sweatshirts. I am a father of three daughters, Imani, Destiny & Jayla Tyler with my fiancé, Erika Tyler.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, this road to success has not been smooth. The biggest struggle that I have endured was wanting success for my artist more than they wanted it for themselves. I always teach them that to reach the success in this industry requires extreme persistence, determination, focus & sacrifice.
As you know, we’re big fans of Global Exec Records. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Global Exec Records is a record label based out of Cleveland, OH. We currently house 14 recording artist in genres ranging from R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, Gospel, Alternative & Classical. What sets us apart from every label in the industry is our recording contracts. Each artist receives a 50/50 record deal that consist of 2 albums or more depending on their terms. Label artist also record at no charge in which they work with Grammy Award producers and songwriters and industry veterans. I am most proud of the fact that we don’t follow the trends of the music industry and allow our artist to truly be a representation of who they are. What’s next?
My plans for the future is to continue building our brand and creating new opportunities for aspiring artists. I am looking forward to Fall 2022 for the “Hope Tour”. Hip hop recording artist “E’javien” will be in schools across the country promoting hope and his new album.
