Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Lambert.
Hi Chris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Brandon and myself co-founders of Make the Impact, have always had a passionate desire to help others and give back as much as we could. When we first started working together on some business projects, it became apparent that we were meant to do something together. We both wanted to make an impact on the world and decided to start a company that would allow us and other companies to do just that. That is how Make The Impact was born.
Brandon comes from an insurance business background, and I myself have been in sales roles over the last 20 yrs. owning 2 other businesses prior to Make the Impact. So, combining our experience and passions together just worked.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not!
We often describe entrepreneurship as “Jumping off a cliff, then trying to build an airplane on the way down hoping to get it running before you crash.”
That being said, some of the biggest challenges we have come across are the need for multiple tech integrations at once. So many companies and organizations are using multiple tech stacks to accomplish their daily business needs. So, the desire for all technologies to integrate together can be a great challenge.
Going to market was a challenge as we compete in one the most saturated businesses in the market, and most of our competitors have proven to be untrustworthy and dishonest. So, bringing a new honest, transparent, and trustworthy solution to the market takes time. As trust is built through time and consistency.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Make the Impact is a way for business to use their credit card processing to make a positive impact on the world.
How do we do this? Make the Impact strives to fill businesses with a passion and drive for generosity and impact. To go above and beyond the “bottom line” and take full advantage of the opportunities they have. To help drive this movement in the business community Make the Impact decided to lead the way, committing a large portion of all their profits to causes around the world.
We have committed to giving 25% of our topline profits to causes around the world that we allow our customers to engage with throughout the year. It looks like this; Bob’s pizza shop accepts credit cards for all their orders using our processing platform. Bob then chooses from one of our 4 causes to have is transactions benefit. We then take the profit every month made from Bob’s account and donate it to that cause. At the end of the year, we send a letter to Bob letting him know the exact impact his pizza shop had and what impact was made collaboratively with other businesses who also chose the same cause.
We are proud of this model; we will not only save money on their processing fees but also help them engage with these great causes. Our current causes are:
Anti-Human Trafficking – Providing full care and housing for victims rescued from human trafficking
Hunger Relief – Providing meals to children who are at risk of starvation
Humanitarian Projects – Providing water, education, housing, and other needs domestically and globally.
Trauma relief – Providing treatment for first responders and veterans who suffer from PTSD or suicide.
Our clients aren’t exclusive to “Bob’s Pizza Shop.” We work with schools, churches, manufacturing, banks, boutiques, auto shops, and so many other business types.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Networking is essential to business; we have found that the solutions to some of our greatest challenges have come from our network and have provided solutions for our clients. We approach networking not from a sales approach but from a where can we add value to who we meet, which is often a connection to someone else in our network.
