Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Frietch
Hi Brittney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Only 40% of teen moms graduate High School and fewer than 2% finish college by age 30.
From teen mom to college grad, to running a multi-million-dollar company! Statistics be damned!
I’m not sure if I can adequately write how I started and how I got to where I am today, but I will try.
I’ve made two incredible decisions in my life, decisions that completely and totally changed my life’s path. The first life altering decision I made was to keep my baby when I found out I was pregnant at age 16. Deciding to take on the look of shame, failure and pity for life was not one that was made lightly, and it has gone on to prove as one of the most pivotal decisions I have made. The second decision I made was falling in love with and marrying the love of my life. You see, who you choose to marry is one of the most weighted decisions someone can make. He has truly saw the greatness in me before anyone else had, believed in me through my world full of doubt, and fueled the fire that burned deep inside my soul.
As you can see, these were two massive decisions, looking back. One of known suffering, angst, and love; the other out of an innocent desire to be seen and cared for.
The beauty of it all is that these decisions were made by a young woman who didn’t have the answers or the forecast of what the future held.
Fast forward a number of years, and after the blessing of staying home with my 3 kids for a decade, it was time for me to help my husband out of a toxic career. He had worked his way up the family-owned business ladder and landed the Vice Presidency role which included a rather nice 6 figure income, among other incentives, but new ownership landed him in the ER fearing he was having a heart attack. From that point we both decided real estate may be a good option to try, even with a bachelor’s degree in business in hand, I wouldn’t be able to help him leave his career in enough time to save his life by trying to go corporate.
In 2017 I obtained my Ohio real estate salesperson license and by 2020 my husband was able to leave his career on a leap of faith. You would think that’d be the end of the story, but as we know, life has its surprises along the way!
My husband quit his job the first week in February 2020, and we all know what happened in March 2020. Our world got spun around when he went to the testing center after having completed his real estate salesperson courses, and there was a sign on the door that read, “closed until further notice”. COVID19 had hit, we held our breath in hopes that our governor would declare me as an essential worker, and with great relief, he did! But here we were, down our sustainable income that we relied on to pay our bills and put food on the table, and only left with one of us, just 3 years into the workforce, on a 100% commission job with no benefits, insurance, stability, or security!
We received no government assistance at all since he had willingly quit his job instead of being furloughed due to the pandemic. It was fight or flight, but back to my incredible decision-making skills that I intentionally wrote about before. Here we were, a family of 5, during a global pandemic, on one unreliable income, and burning through savings to pay our bills when I saw a cardboard sign in a window that read, “for lease” in our little town of Loveland, Ohio. Without hesitation, I took the number down and called my husband. He, of course, did what he does best, and asked some qualifying questions, like the obvious one, “why do we need a location, when real estate is in large part done from your car and phone?”, and perhaps greater than that, “you know we are down to one 5 figure income, I can’t get licensed until only God knows when due to the pandemic and shut downs, and we are going through our savings to try to make ends meet!” Nevertheless, I relied on, what I can look back on, and call faith!
After major renovations, we hosted our grand opening for our Loveland location October 2020 with all attendees wearing masks. Drew was able to get his salespersons license a few months prior, in June, and finally the two of us, together, took the real estate industry by storm. We won some prestigious awards, grew a bolstering team, and in June 2022 decided to break away from the industry norm of being affiliated with a big boxed brand by opening our own boutique style brokerage, BF Realty. Our team came with us, we have added many more incredible agents to what we lovingly call our “BF Family”, and we opened our second location in Fort Thomas, Kentucky in June 2024.
2024 saw the fewest number of transactions in real estate in over 35 years, fewer than the great recession, yet our family-owned company grew 43% year over year, and we show no signs of slowing down. Our model is to changes lives one house at a time and impact the communities we serve by giving back in big ways. We look forward to continuing to disrupt the industry and leave ripple effects of good no matter where our faith takes us. You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want. – Zig Ziglar
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think I described some of them in the previous response, but we have also been rattled with a global pandemic, artificially low interest rates seeing the biggest housing boom in decades, then subsequently rising interest rates, unbelievably low inventory, cyber attacks on our MLS system, a national and federal settlement on how we earn a living, and a mass exodus of licensed professionals.
We’ve been impressed with BF Realty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a small but mighty boutique style real estate brokerage that focusses on community outreach, treating others the way that we would want to be treated, who strives to remain hyper local across the markets we have the honor of serving. We are known for our white glove service, customized marketing, social media presence, and being the elite brokerage in the real estate industry. We’re most proud of the stories our clients and agents talk about their experiences with us by way of reviews and interviews, but we are also proud to be a top 20 company in the Great Cincinnati Area and a top 5 unaffiliated company in the state of Ohio. It is unheard of, but in the year 2025, our company has done all of its business through organic word of mouth and referrals. We’ve not paid for, obtained, or receive leads from lead sources that run prevalent in our industry. Instead of paying for an email list or paying for “click bait” on public real estate sites, we focus on giving our energy, effort, and monetary blessings to the local communities we serve. Whether it be through scholarships for Show Choir, youth sports team, teacher and administrators’ meals, local food pantries, or being the boots on the ground volunteering when needed!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being a good decision maker. Even without data, sources to site, or much intel on the expected outcome. Being able to make decisions quickly, with a gut check and faith has been a tried-and-true characteristic throughout my life and business. Also, it should go without saying, but seeing the light in those around you, speaking words to them & about them, and showing with actions that you see their greatness, and helping them realize it themselves is the greatest gift you can ever give, and I’m fortunate that we do that at BF Realty! My first example of this, of course, was my husband seeing greatness in me as a 19-year-old single mom.
