Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Williams. She shared her story with us below:
Amy Williams, CSEP, has been in the Event Industry for 20+ years – planning non-profit conferences, galas/fundraisers, corporate events, and weddings. She has first-hand experience in event management, audio-visual production, decor, floral design, catering, and business operations and alignment. Her passion is to bring structure and efficiency to your everyday work.
She is a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) who values the ability of being well-rounded within the events industry to provide the best customer service and knowledge to each business she works alongside.
Amy Williams created Afficient Consulting, LLC in March 2021 and works with companies across the United States.
“I want you to feel enthusiastic about your vision and that it’s obtainable with measurable goals, tracking, and accountability,” Amy says.
Amy’s hard work and dedication to her clients has gotten her to where she is today. Putting others first and learning about their dreams and goals, Amy has a quick way of filling in the gaps of what needs to be created to make her client’s goals come to life.
She also finds value in having a mentor herself. Everyone needs someone to talk to.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I do believe we learn best through the struggles we encounter.
Struggles along the way have included:
— Being lonely as an entrepreneur
— Knowing where my next client is going to come from
— Setting aside time to actually work “ON” Afficient Consulting instead of always working on client projects
— Learning best practices for Time Management
— Knowing the right time to wear what “hat” – marketing, sales, hiring, processes, product & service development, etc.
Oddly, I find myself experiencing the same sort of struggles my clients encounter – which helps me to truly understand where they are coming from and what might help best to overcome it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Afficient Consulting specializes in Operational Consulting – striving to listen and support the overall ideas and goals to answer the question, ‘What’s Next?’ for event industry businesses.
— Without processes, consistency in service may not meet the client’s expectations.
— Without streamlining, duplication may continue to occur.
— Without goals, team members will struggle to know what they are striving to achieve.
— Without systems, tasks will continue to take longer than needed.
— Without all of the above, it will take more time, money, and effort to accomplish all aspects of the business.
Within Operational Consulting, the company provides:
— Weekly Leadership / Strategy Sessions for those who need accountability and action items to continue forward movement.
— Annual and Quarterly Goal Setting Sessions to help you weed through all the things that are taking up time and energy and prioritizing what’s most important to work on first.
–Project-Based (Done-For-You) work to implement the operational concepts you might want but don’t know how to create them. Projects like data-driven scorecards, time & task audits for job responsibilities, processes and systems for your team members, onboarding a new software, etc.
— 360 Efficiency Check © for those who don’t know where to start or what to work on in their business but they have a learning mindset and want guidance on what to do to make their business better.
I believe what sets me apart from others is the quick ability to see a problem or inefficiency and create ways to remove it. Using automations and building structure means clients are spending less time running their business and more time doing the things that they enjoy the most.
I am most proud of offering a vulnerable and transparent place for business owners to grow without judgment and to learn about aspects of their business that are going to increase their effectiveness.
If you’re having trouble:
— Understanding your finances
— Building quarterly goals for yourself (or your team)
— Are in a rut doing the same things over and over again in your business that are not fun
…maybe it’s time to bring in an outside source for guidance from someone who has experience in the event industry and has an understanding of what you’re going through.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love collaboration! One of my values is collaboration over competition.
Support can mean meeting up for coffee and checking in, following/interacting with each other on social media,
I love networking and getting to know the passions of other people. We are all better together because we all bring something unique to the table.
The door is always open to discuss ways to work together… even if it might be thought of as outside the scope of what I’m doing currently. The best ideas come from interaction.
