Hidden Gems: Meet Amber and Jazmine Byrd of My Fetish Swim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber and Jazmine Byrd. 

Hi Amber and Jazmine, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We began our business based on our love for event planning, swimwear, and travel. We always got so many compliments on our swim fashion and usually the group trip planners so we decided to blend our passions to develop our own swim and travel company. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This road hasn’t been smooth but We have had some very influential women support us along the way. We struggle with navigating the industry, funding, and finding our customer base. Many of our followers don’t have passports yet and need encouragement to step outside of their comfort zone. This is a hurdle we’ve been navigating by making our first international trip as affordable as possible and making sure our clients understand the value in leaving Cleveland as often as they can. As our client base grows and our guest connect with each other, we’re hoping to open the door for more people to join our travel family. 

Jazmine’s background is in engineering and mine is in education. We are experts in our fields as well as booking a trip but it’s been a challenge to get the funding to have our suit designs come to life the way we want. We found some ways to work around that obstacle for now and our still seeking the knowledge and proper funding to grow our brand.

My Fetish Swim is a swim and travel brand that focuses on every “body”. We encourage women and men to love the body they’re in and highlight all body types on our platform. There is no certain size that should only enjoy feeling confident in a swimsuit or experience a Lux vacation. 

We also use our personal training and wellness enthusiasm to set us apart. Vacay PREP is an academy we created to allow our guest to connect with us and other travelers as we prep our bodies for vacation and living and overall better quality of life. While losing weight is NOT a requirement to enjoy a beach, we created this extension of our business because it is an additional passion of ours that we enjoy sharing. 

My Fetish Swim offers mommy and me swim, couples swim, resort wear, and travel wear, and luggage/travel gear. As we grow, we want to continue to be known for the way we collaborate and celebrate other women in business. We host events that has sparked businesses partnerships, friendships, and networking opportunities for the benefit of all our guest. 

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Cleveland is cold. It’s not the best place to shoot swimwear if we drop a winter collection lol. But what’s great about our business is that we are not brick and mortar. What city we’re in has no bearing on business. Although we do wish we lived further south for better weather and photo opportunities throughout the year.
