Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tra’von Eley.
Hi Tra’von, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Grew up in Boardman, Ohio. I graduated from Boardman High School as well as Mahoning County Technical Center for Culinary Arts. I started my culinary career at the Lake Club of Ohio, Bistro 1907 in Youngstown, Ohio, as the Kitchen Manager and at Downtown 124 in Warren, Ohio, as the Head Chef! This lead me to owning my own brand ” Tra’s Gourmet Sandwiches”.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing that’s worth it in the end is ever easy, we have overcame many challenges as a team. My first year I didn’t have much of a staff which was a struggle in itself due to the long hours I spent working myself. To this day, we are learning and getting better as a whole. As of today, I’m proud to say I have a team of about ten at the moment and growing. That would include employees that work inside and outside the trailer from cooks to a social media manager. Tra’s Gourmet wouldn’t be as successful as it is without them all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Tra’s Gourmet Sandwiches is a food truck that travels all over Ohio and Pennsylvania. We specialize in burgers, chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. The main thing that sets us apart at festivals is that we are a legit brand, our goal is to make sure our customers are happy every time they buy food. The overall objective is to make the customer not just remember the food they ate but the faces that smiled when they ordered it.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be middle school, we were all still kids and life was very simple. At that age you don’t have many responsibilities and things seem to be more enjoyable.
