Exploring Life & Business with Rommel Angulo of rommel angulo insurance llc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rommel Angulo.

Hi Rommel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career in the insurance industry working as an employee at an Allstate agency. That experience gave me a solid foundation in how the business operates and how to serve clients effectively. After gaining that experience, I decided to open my own agency, initially partnering with Progressive.

Before fully establishing myself in insurance, I worked in different roles within the community in Columbus. I repaired pallets, worked in security—where many people came to know me simply as “Security”—and later drove for Uber. Those roles allowed me to build strong relationships, especially within the Latino community, and earn trust through consistent, honest work.

As people who already knew me from security and Uber learned that I was now helping clients with insurance, referrals began to grow naturally. That trust, combined with my industry experience, allowed the agency to expand steadily. Today, I operate from my own office in Dublin, continuing to grow through referrals and long-term client relationships.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road was not completely smooth, especially at the beginning. When you are starting without an existing book of clients, many insurance carriers are hesitant to grant appointments. Because of that, I had to grow the business step by step.

I spent a lot of time doing direct outreach—asking people to place their insurance with me, visiting dealerships, leaving business cards, and being present wherever potential clients were. A big part of the challenge was also repositioning myself in the community. Many people knew me from previous roles and would say, “Aren’t you the security guy?” or “Weren’t you the Uber driver?” I had to consistently show that I was now running a professional insurance agency.

It was not impossible, but it required steady effort and persistence. Up to now, most of my clients come from the Latino community, which has been a strong foundation for growth. My next major goal is to expand further into the English-speaking market, which is larger but also more competitive.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about rommel angulo insurance llc?
My business is a full-service insurance agency focused on providing practical, reliable coverage solutions for individuals, families, and small businesses. We specialize in auto, health, life, and commercial insurance, serving primarily the Latino community while continuing to expand into the broader market. The agency was built on trust, referrals, and long-term relationships rather than high-volume, transactional sales. Our role is to guide clients through insurance decisions in a clear and honest way, ensuring they understand their options and feel confident in their coverage.

What truly sets my agency apart is the level of personalized attention and the breadth of carriers we work with. Unlike agencies tied to a single company, I operate independently and represent a wide range of respected insurance providers, which allows me to tailor coverage to each client’s specific needs. For auto insurance, I work with carriers such as Progressive, GEICO, Trexis, American Insurance, The General, Common Health, Glacier, and National General (part of the Allstate group). In health insurance, I partner with Oscar and Molina to provide accessible and competitive options. For life insurance, I work with multiple well-established carriers, including New York Life and Prudential, among many others, allowing me to compare products and secure the best possible fit for each client. For business and commercial insurance, I work with providers such as Next Insurance and Progressive, offering solid, practical solutions that protect small businesses as they grow. This variety, combined with hands-on service, ensures that clients are not forced into one-size-fits-all policies. Every recommendation is made with the client’s best interest in mind, not the carrier’s.

Brand-wise, what I am most proud of is having built a trusted local presence from the ground up. The agency is known for being accessible, responsive, and relationship-driven. Clients know they can speak directly with me, receive clear explanations, and get ongoing support—not just at the point of sale, but throughout the life of their policy. What I want readers to know is that this brand stands for transparency, personalized service, and advocacy. We do not just sell insurance; we help clients protect what matters to them with solutions that truly make sense.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next five to ten years, the insurance industry will continue to operate in an environment of uncertainty, influenced by economic cycles, regulatory changes, and shifting political conditions, including current immigration policies under President Trump that directly impact large segments of the market. Uncertainty has always been part of this industry, and it will likely remain so.

What is certain is the need for persistence and adaptability. Insurance is a constantly evolving field, and agencies must respond daily to new regulations, underwriting changes, carrier requirements, and client situations. The ability to adjust operations, products, and outreach strategies will be critical for long-term success.

Despite ongoing change, insurance is an industry that has endured for over a century and will continue to do so. As long as assets have value and people seek financial protection, insurance will remain essential. True elimination of insurance would require a world where assets are no longer monetized, which is unrealistic. The core need for risk management and financial protection ensures the industry’s long-term relevance, regardless of market shifts.
