Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Dzurko.
Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Revival Body Care was officially launched in Spring of 2015 from my home kitchen. My passion for a healthy lifestyle, beginning with mindfully selecting Organic, Non-GMO, Clean foods for my family, can be seen in all aspects of our lives. I am a mother of 3 daughters, and we are all involved in physical activities year-round I have a great LOVE for Pilates and Barre and the outdoors! My continued knowledge and research led to being extremely careful about the products that we use ON our bodies! I make every effort to use products that are free of toxins, chemicals, and harmful preservatives. SKIN is our largest organ and is porous which means that anything you put ON it will end up being absorbed INTO it.
As a mother of 3 daughters, I started to research and found that that average woman uses 11 personal care products every day; now multiply that times hundreds of chemically laden ingredients being applied daily, and you’re looking at toxic overload, endocrine disrupters, and skin reactivity. NO, THANK YOU! “Clean beauty” was still a relatively new idea for the mainstream when I launched Revival. I saw a need for it in the market and wholeheartedly believed in the benefits of using the beautiful ingredients that are provided by Mother Nature to create a line of gentle yet effective products.
When I launched, I was pivoting out of my first business, Sunshine Couture, a line of whimsical, hand-crafted accessories for babies, girls, and brides! It was an incredible 7-year run that gave me all of the fundamentals on running a business, but I was ready for something new, something that could make real impact on the lives of those around me, and the ability to share my passions with the platform that Revival created for me.
Since the launch of Revival Body Care, I’ve moved from my home kitchen to the Revival Flagship Store & HQ in Cleveland, OH. Revival has swiftly grown and expanded its offerings to a comprehensive collection of beauty products, as well as a strong community that is the #REVIVALTRIBE. Revival is more than just a pretty face; Revival is a lifestyle brand focused on beauty, a holistic approach to overall wellness, education, and empowerment. Sharing my passion for clean living, overall wellness, and self-care motivates me daily, and I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to share this love with you!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel like entrepreneurship, in general, is a journey and a constant state of learning. My degree is in Interior Design, and I really believe that having the ability and mind’s eye to visualize projects from idea to fruition has been very helpful to my journey as a business owner. From marketing, packaging, content, photography, designing physical spaces. Being open to exploring, learning, researching, expanding on my knowledge on every level is imperative as a business owner.
I believe my one of my biggest struggles along the way have been balancing all of the hats that I wear, not only as a business owner but also as a single mother of 3 daughters. The responsibilities never go away, and depending on what needs my full dedicated attention at any given time, I recognize that something else might have to be put on hold. Multi-tasking is the name of the game, but making sure that I also carve out time for my own personal self-care is of utmost importance. When I carve out that time, whether it’s 5 minutes or an hour, it allows me to go back to my responsibilities with a fresh mindset. Self-care is a big part of my brand messaging, so I have to practice what I preach!
All in all, I feel that while there have certainly been some inevitable bumps along the way (hello Covid!) things ultimately always work themselves out. Approaching challenges strategically and with the flexibility to pivot as needed makes tough situations much easier to navigate. Holding on too tight to a certain idea that something needs to be “just so” can sometimes become detrimental. A willingness to bend takes a lot of stress away!
We’ve been impressed with Revival Body Care, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Revival Body Care started in my home kitchen in 2014 with a collection of All Natural Body Scrubs. I am a mother of 3 daughters with a great love for clean living and overall wellness, from the foods that we eat to the products we use on our bodies every day! Fast forward 7+ years, and Revival is a fully comprehensive collection of Skin, Lip, and Haircare. Revival Body Care is created using only the finest quality Organic, Fair Trade, 100% Vegan Ingredients. Revival Body Care is committed to using ingredients that are sustainable, ethically sourced, fair-trade, cruelty-free, and organic to ensure healthy, nourished skin, lips, and hair without the use of chemicals, toxins, artificial colors, fragrances, or fillers. Revival offers a range of beauty products that are good for the consumer and the environment. The Revival Flagship Store in Lakewood, OH, is a natural beauty and wellness destination with a focus on education and sustainability. Having this physical space has created a space for me to expand upon the community, education, and sustainability components of Revival, as well as allows for all production to take place in-house! Revival Retreats are a hands-on experiential 60–90-minute span of time where women gather and learn about Revival products/clean beauty, carve out time for self-care, and share time in the company of other women. We opened our 2nd storefront (a “pop-up” from June-December 2022) at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, OH.
The Revival Recycles program is going strong and takes the message and implementation of sustainability full circle. Customers return empty Revival containers, I reuse the glass, and the pumps/lids are shipped to Terra Cycle, which handles the repurposing of these items, items which would generally end up in a landfill.
Revival has shipped all over the globe, can be found in over 250 shops throughout the United States. I started this company with a vision to not only provide gentle yet effective products created using only the finest quality certified organic, fair-trade, 100% vegan ingredients but to use my platform as a brand owner to provide motivation, education, and empowerment in regards to self-care and wellness.
Revival launched the inaugural Revival Beauty Drive in Fall 2019, which collected personal care products for the women and children of Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center. Over 600 items were donated on Thanksgiving from the generous donations made by Revival customers. Each subsequent year we collected thousands of additional products… close to six thousand in all! We look forward to 2022 being our best year yet for the Revival Beauty Drive, which will kick off October 21st, 2022.
