Today we’d like to introduce you to Monika Foley
Hi Monika, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After 19 years in the beauty industry, I started to realize that the women in my chair needed something more than just great hair and small talk. They craved more than just being pampered, they needed to be able to vent about what was bothering them and receive guidance to be able to heal wounds created by certain people and situations. During this time, I started to realize I could assist people on a deeper level to promote their soul’s growth.
I first discovered the benefits of Reiki in 2018 when I started my own healing journey. After my first session I felt really relaxed, my mind felt clearer, and I could focus on my goals easier. After about 5 or 6 sessions later, I started to notice a big difference in myself. The better I felt, the easier I could deal with difficult people and situations, the more love I could feel expanding in my heart, the clearer I could see the bigger picture, and I became more secure in knowing who I am and what boundaries I need to have in place to protect myself. I was able to let go of things that really bothered me before and I started to experience feelings of peace inside of myself that I had never experienced before. When I found my inner peace, I was able to experience more feelings of joy and happiness which was ultimately something I had been searching for longer than I would want to admit.
I was curious of how these sessions were helping me so I decided to learn more about Reiki and how it works. I started taking traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki classes and after the first class my soul pulled me to keep learning. I followed with Reiki 2, Animal Reiki, a 6 week internship class, a 6 month long apprenticeship, and I was eventually invited to take the Master level class in 2021.
During my Reiki training, I started sampling other energy healing modalities. I decided to try an Access Bars session and the energy felt different. I felt like it was targeting different areas in my mindset and perception of the world than Reiki did. I needed Reiki for deep healing but the Access Bars helped me to change habits and thought processes attached to my old trauma based self. I thought this is also something I need learn, so I took the class to become a certified Access Bars Practitioner. I decided to take the Access Energetic Facelift class as well which contained additional layering to my knowledge of Access Bars with thoughts and emotions we attach to our faces and bodies and how to release them to look and feel younger and healthier.
The more knowledge I gained, the more my soul started pulling me to help others in experiencing feelings of peace and joy within themselves. I have learned through my own healing, I have a much larger purpose in life to fulfill and the foundation of my new purpose is helping others on a soul level. I decided to combine my love for the physical indulgence of the beauty industry with my ambition to help heal the world. My goal is to create a more beautiful world; visually and energetically, and to help people feel good on the inside as well as the outside.
I needed to create a new space to expand into and I found the business behind the salon I’m currently working at had a private room available to rent. I opened The Soul Sanctuary in April of 2023. By creating The Soul Sanctuary, I followed my heart, mind, and soul’s guidance to give others a sacred and safe place to assist in their personal transformation.
During the past 2 years of being open, I have deepened my understanding in energy, frequency, and vibration and how it interacts with us personally and the world around us. I’ve gone on to recieve certifications for Sound Healing, Craniosacral Therapy, Guided Release and AromaTouch. I have also taken classes to expand my knowledge in Crystal Healing, Akashic Records, Shamanic Journey’s, Soul Retrieval, Channeling Divine Wisdom, Sacred Geometry, Astral Travel, and the teachings of The Modern Mystery School.
During the warmer months of 2024, I started offering free sound baths to the community. Once I understood the importance of sound frequencies and what it can assist us with on physical, mental, and emotional levels, I felt called to offer group Sound Baths to all who were interested at no charge. I hosted 2 Sound Baths at Gantz Park and 2 Sound Baths were hosted by Grove City with Fitness in the Park in their recently built amphitheater that is just across the way from The Soul Sanctuary. I plan to offer more free Sound Baths for the community in 2025 to help soothe and uplift more souls while bringing peace and good vibrations to the Earth around us.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge on my path was promoting my business. I wasn’t sure where to start and if people would understand what it was that I was offering. I didn’t even know what Reiki was until I started seeking alternative healing options for issues modern medicine was not able to help with. I started advertising on social media sites and public groups and was surprised to see how many people actually had interest in what I was offering.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Soul Sanctuary?
I opened The Soul Sanctuary to create a peaceful oasis where every person can find comfort and unwavering support on their personal journey. I provide a safe space to vent, process, release, relax, recharge, and feel renewed.
I offer various energetic techniques that assist with deep relaxation, releasing unwanted thoughts and mental chatter, improving mental and emotional clarity, stimulating your body’s natural healing capabilities, soothing physical ailments, calming your nervous system, deepening your spiritual connection, and inviting more peace, wellness, and joy into your life.
A energetic treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through you and around you. Experiences will differ from person to person. Some may experience gentle tingling sensations, twitching, vibrations, pins and needles, warmth or coolness, old memories could appear, you could become emotional, while others report seeing various colors or visions. Some clients report that they didn’t feel anything but a deep sense of calm and relaxation. As every session is unique to what the client needs at that moment, there is no right or wrong way to experience an energy session.
How does it work? That’s the most common question I receive. The first thing you should understand is that we are energetic beings. Think of your heart, it has electrical pulses running through it that keeps our heart beating. If your heart stops beating, then the medics use paddles with an electric charge to restart it. Think of a pacemaker monitoring the electrical pulses in your heart and if they become erratic or slowed too much, the pacemaker sends electrical charges to your heart to stimulate it into having a regular beat again.
Your brain also has an electric charge. A brain test called an electroencephalogram (EEG) measures the electrical activity of the brain. If the electrical pulses in your brain stop working correctly, it becomes unable to function as it normally would. Without electrical pulses in the brain, you are considered braindead.
These are just 2 common electrical systems in the body but your entire body has these electrical pulses running through it all the time. It controls how you walk, move your body, digest your food, your sleep cycles, your thoughts, your emotions, how quickly your body heals, literally everything your body does is due to these electrical pulses in your body.
During my extensive trainings, I learned where your 7 main energy centers are located and how to guide the energy to become back in sync with your body. I learned how to clear the energy in myself and how to use my body as a clear vessel to bring powerful energies into. I then allow the needed energies to flow through me and to my client to restore balance in their systems. The energy will flow to areas of imbalance to stimulate them back into alignment.
Just as you can wirelessly charge your phone, our bodies can also recharge wirelessly with a proper conduit. If your energy is low, some of your functions may not work properly. This is comparable to your phone starting to dim the screen or not let you open certain apps if your battery is too low, your body will also not work properly with low energy levels. It can create imbalances in your system that want to be in alignment but doesn’t have the necessary energy to do so.
When your energy centers come back into alignment, you can begin to control your thoughts, you can release your overwhelming emotions, you can clear your fears, you can re-establish your sleep cycles, you can create a stronger connection to yourself and the divine, you can stimulate healing in your body whether it be physical, mental, or emotional trauma that has accumulated over time, you can be in alignment with your personal goals, you can become the best version of yourself. That’s what I’m here for, to support people while they become the best version of themselves.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to those just starting out is to follow your heart. If what you are doing or want to offer others brings you excitement and joy to your heart, that is your sign you are on the right path. Don’t set seeds of doubt in yourself before you even begin. Plant yourself deeply into what it is that makes your heart happy and cultivate your vision until you break open the shell surrounding you. Allow yourself to emerge, sprout, and grow into the beautiful and unique being you came here to be.
