Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Gorman.
Hi Meghan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Meghan Marie Studio started in 2013 and focuses on connecting with people, the value of photography, and supporting people in their relationships, as well as offering professional and intentional photography products and services.
I never wanted to be a photographer in business for myself and really disliked capturing weddings. However, I felt that God was leading me onto this path and when I finally stopped fighting against this idea, I found purpose and joy in doing the thing I said I’d never do. As Michael Scott would say, “Oh, how the turn tables.”
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Never have I felt that I was forcing something I shouldn’t be pursuing this business, but that doesn’t mean everything has been easy.
With having excitement for relationship and marital resources and involving that in our experiences with couples, non-clients have questioned us in this because of our lack of personal marital experiences and age. To that I answer with Timothy 4:12 (NIV): Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
My team and I have also had typical challenges that many faces in business, in the wedding industry, and in the creative field, but all have been productive and met with grace by all those involved.
As you know, we’re big fans of Meghan Marie Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Meghan Marie Studio is a team of professional photographers who focus on connecting with people, the value of photography, and providing resources for relationships, as well as creative and intentional products and services.
We do many weddings but are currently in a transition period of growing our team to be available to serve not only more weddings, but portraits and non-wedding events. We really strive to listen and converse with people and what their needs are to make the experience and product tailor-made to them. Our team also has learned to be open-minded to see what the people we serve can teach us in our time together.
As mentioned, we do many weddings, and our web presence shows that but I’d love for readers to know that we’re in the business of loving and listening to people and would love to be considered for any project, event, or idea, offering consultations, day-of photography coverage, albums, prints, and more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
As mentioned before, I really felt God nudging me into this direction in 2013 when it was just myself (Meghan). As big ideas and opportunities have come and go, I’ve found that when things don’t work out, God wastes nothing and it’s either kept my team and I from experiencing the nightmares that being a business owner can bring or allowed us to grow in a way I never thought possible.
