Exploring Life & Business with Katie Montgomery of CEO ERA™ Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Montgomery

Hi Katie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I first knew I wanted to own my own business when I was 12. To make a little extra pocket change, I created a library in my bedroom and charged my brothers and sisters 25 cents for a library card and 10 cents a day for overdue books. I realized there were more quick ways to an overflowing piggy bank. But the entrepreneurial bug had bitten me, and I was hooked. Fast forward to 2023, when I took another crack at building my own business, My At Home Adventures® given my years in business development, program management, and sales at one of the world’s largest investment firms, I went into business ownership with high hopes and naivety only to be served a big ole plate of self-doubt and limiting beliefs. If no one’s told you yet, entrepreneurship is one of the most extensive self-development journeys you’ll ever go on. After spending the first six months or so coming up to my launch date wondering what was wrong with me, I had this unique vision for what I wanted to create but was experiencing so much resistance with getting to work! I realized that I was the greatest asset to my business, and if I wasn’t taking care of myself, then every part of my business would suffer. And that began my year-long journey of defining what I call my “CEO ERA,” the higher version of myself on the other end of building a wildly successful business. The version of myself that wasn’t afraid to say “yes” to her dreams, the one that had a vision to serve others and relentlessly pursued bringing that vision to life, learning and growing along the way, the one that knew she was meant for more and was tired of going through the motions of life and decided that she could create the life of her dreams. That journey of betting on myself and learning to trust myself in bringing my entrepreneurial vision to life inspired my business coaching programs, CEO ERA™ Coaching.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
NO! I struggled a lot with imposter syndrome at first — which is normal when you’re in a completely new situation with no prior experience. I found myself comparing the progress of my business to that of many women in the online business space who have been doing this for years! That only continued the cycle of imposter syndrome, which impacted how I was showing up for my business. Behind the scenes, I was creating all of these fantastic coaching packages while getting certified in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and other subconscious rewiring modalities, but I wasn’t talking about it online, so no one knew that I existed. As I built more confidence in myself as an entrepreneur and the businesses I was creating, I realized that I had to stop looking at what everyone else was doing and focus on what made me unique. This allowed me to find my own voice in my marketing, which started attracting clients that resonated with my message. I also needed help with exactly what I wanted to do and what problems I wanted to solve for my ideal audience. Since starting my online business journey, my offers have changed drastically, but it led me to create CEO ERA™ Coaching, which feels more in alignment with the intersection of what I want to do and what I enjoy doing.

We’ve been impressed with CEO ERA™ Coaching, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
CEO ERA™ Coaching falls under my broader business, Montgomery Consulting (which I’m currently not accepting new clients for), and is laser-focused on business and mindset coaching for new online business owners. Our vision for CEO ERA™ Coaching is to create a movement of women who embody the “I can have it all” mentality; we aspire to be the catalyst for women who are ready to step into their fullest potential as an online business owner, unapologetically leading their business to massive success. We help women who want to start and scale a purpose-driven online service or information-based business step into their CEO ERA; we’re not just your typical business coach – we give women the mindset tools to overcome their self-imposed glass ceilings and create the life and business of their dreams. Through our signature 1:1 coaching packages, we work closely with our clients to define their CEO ERA, developing the habits, routines, and (most importantly) identity they need to embody as online business owners. Packages range in length, beginning at two months of weekly 60-minute coaching; each coaching session is personalized and tailored to our client’s unique goals and challenges to support them on their journey of transforming into the confident and fearless leaders of a wildly successful business.

I plan to launch a new online course, Complete Clarity, in June. Ever feel like you’re just going through the motions day-over-day? When you look back on the past few years, does it seem like you’ve been re-living the same year? You’re in good company. So many women are stuck in this cycle of feeling like they’re meant for more but unsure how to uncover what’s missing. In Complete Clarity, you have permission to redefine your life. You’re not selfish, ungrateful, or crazy for wanting more. You deserve to live a fulfilling life in your fullest potential. This self-study course will help you uncover what’s missing and give you the tools to take control of your life. With the optional 1-on-1 coaching add-on, you’ll also receive personalized coaching to help you identify and overcome the barriers standing in your way.

I’m proud of the CEO ERA™ brand because it represents a part of me that I haven’t let out for a long time. It’s loud, unapologetic, and confidently expresses my convictions as an online business coach. I think women are drawn to it because they recognize a part of themselves that they’ve been keeping in; I hope to inspire women to stop making themselves small to fit in and, instead, boldly share their message.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
It’s a mix of resilience and scrappiness. You can’t fail if you don’t give up. There’s a difference between “giving up” and recognizing that something isn’t working the way you’re currently doing it and then considering another way. Looking at everything as an experiment, especially in marketing, you don’t get so attached to the outcome.
