Exploring Life & Business with Joseph Cooper of Thermodynamic Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Cooper.

Hi Joseph, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
On Sept. 19, 2016, my Fiancé (Beth Carpenter) and I founded a weather consulting company named Thermodynamic Solutions (TDS Weather for short). We started off providing commercial forecasts to companies across Indiana. As our reputation grew with clients, so did our company! In years 2 and 3 we found that more companies outside of the state were interested in the services we provide. We expanded to Illinois and Ohio, then north into Michigan and Wisconsin. Over that time, not only did our reach expand, but also the services and products that we offer for the clients we serve, from snow removal to sports venues and more!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There are always bumps in the road when starting your own business. While we were well versed in meteorology and weather forecasting, operating a new small business was another task. The first struggle was to just get our name out there and recognized. This lead to cold calling, social media marketing, and sending out emails to anyone we felt could use our services. There were a lot of no’s but eventually, we started to get some yeses. We learned the best thing we could do was to provide a great service and make our clients happy because happy clients spread the word to others!

We have also had to develop and innovate over the years, especially when it comes to the products we offer. In the world of weather consulting, there is always something new on the market and it promises to be the best. This has pushed us to continue to develop new products and with just two people running a business, this can be both challenging and time-consuming!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Thermodynamic Solutions LLC is a weather consulting company based out of the Indianapolis, Indiana area. We provide accurate and timely weather forecasts to commercial companies across the Ohio Valley and southern Great Lakes region. This includes farmers, snow removal companies, sports teams, outdoor venues, golf courses, and more!

What sets us apart from others are our accurate forecasts, unique delivery of those forecasts, and ability to better help companies make decisions in relation to cost, safety, and planning. However, what really sets us apart is the commitment we have to our clients. We don’t want our clients’ to just be another name on a list, we want to take time to get to know them, their needs, and how we can best create and deliver a forecast that helps them!

I am most proud of the way we operate as a company. When we first started, I said I wanted to be a company that people could turn to when they needed accurate and reliable weather forecasts and information. We don’t want to be a company who “hypes” the forecast to get views or clients or posts “clickbait”. I also wanted to create a company that conveys that we value our clients, not just by saying it, but by showing it, and I believe that we do that day in and day out!

I want readers to know that every day our company strives to deliver the best forecast and services that you can receive. We do this without bias. This comes through hard work and through experience in what we do. While our forecasts may be more unique than what you are used to, they are tailored to help you better make any weather-related decision needed.
