Hi Jen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Candle Disco in 2023 after falling in love with candle-making as a creative outlet. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion, and I knew I wanted to turn that passion into something bigger. I had always dreamed of owning my own business, so I took the leap and never looked back!
One of the biggest reasons I started making candles was out of frustration—I kept buying store-bought candles only to find out they were filled with hidden toxins. I wanted something safer for my family, without compromising on amazing scents. So, I set out to create candles that are not only clean-burning but also fill a space with warmth and personality.
People always ask where the name Candle Disco comes from, and I love telling my story. As a kid, I would tell my mom that one day, I’d own a disco and a flower shop—side by side, both vibrant and full of life. While I may not have that exact setup (yet!), I wanted my business to reflect who I am: a little bit nostalgic, a little bit whimsical, and always ready to bring good vibes. I’ve been told I’m an old soul, and Candle Disco is my way of keeping my childhood dream alive and reflect who I am as a person.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a candle company has been an incredible journey, but definitely not always a smooth road! Like any business, there have been challenges—figuring out the best formulas, sourcing quality ingredients, and learning the ins and outs of running a business. One of the biggest challenges I have experience thus far is finding a good balance between running my business, working a full-time job, and making time for my beautiful family. But every challenge has been a learning experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love what I do, and seeing people enjoy my candles makes all the hard work worth it!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets Candle Disco apart is the story and heart behind it. The name comes from a childhood dream of mine—I always told my mom I’d own my own disco. I wanted my brand to reflect who I am as a person and bring feel-good energy into people’s homes. Candle Disco is more than just a candle company—it’s a passion project that turned into a dream come true of owning my own business. I handcraft clean-burning, high-quality candles that are free of hidden toxins, so you can enjoy amazing scents without worrying about what you’re breathing in. Each candle is made with love, using premium ingredients that create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Not only do I have a traditional candle line, but I also specialize in unique dessert candles that are hand crafted that make customer light up with joy when they see them. One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is meeting customers are markets, educating them on my candles and candle care, and seeing the customers face light up with they take the first initial sniff of one of my candles. I love creating something that people can bring home and enjoy and possibly spark a memory or simpy make their space feel a little cozier is truly humbling. I pour my heart into my work and hearing customers rave about how good they smell reminds me why I started this in the first place and keeps me going on the tough days. I’m most proud of the heart and authenticity behind Candle Disco and will continue to build a brand that is true to who I am.

I believe the most important quality to my success is passion with persistence. From the start, I’ve poured my heart into Candle Disco, not just in creating candles but in building a brand that feels personal and meaningful. I genuinely love what I do, and that passion keeps me motivated even when things get challenging.
