Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jack Bradley.
Jack, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Started as a teacher in Lorain City Schools. After receiving my law degree, went into private law practice for 43 years. Became mayor of Lorain in 2000 and starting my second 4-year term this year.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road since I had to transition from private business to government work. I was also faced with COVID-19 in my first year in the office. Nevertheless, it has been a terrific learning experience and an opportunity to give back to my city.
We’ve been impressed with City of Lorain, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As mayor of Lorain, I am tasked with running the day-to-day operations of the City. It is like managing a multi-million dollar operation with 65,000 citizens to take care of every day. I try to lead with a positive attitude and always look on the bright side of things. I am very proud of the progress the city has made under my leadership and of all the great employees that make the city operations run smoothly on a daily basis.
What are your plans for the future?
We are currently working on a HUD Choice Neighborhood Planning grant that could potentially bring over $50 million in Federal investment and an additional $400 million in private investment into an underserved section of our community.
