Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Valentine.
Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At 38 years old, I am the founder and owner of Balance Vitality, where I work as a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP). Health and fitness have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always active, and I believed I was making healthy choices through nutrition and exercise.
My love for athletics led me to play soccer throughout my childhood, into Division I collegiate competition, and eventually overseas in Sweden. After returning home, I discovered a passion for running while beginning my career as a teacher. Life continued to evolve—I got married, became a mother of two, and faced the emotional journey of infertility while trying to conceive my daughter.
At 34, my life changed dramatically following my divorce. As I rebuilt my life from the ground up as a single mother, I found myself questioning what I truly wanted for my future. I knew I wanted a career that inspired me every day—one that never felt like work.
Two deeply personal health struggles ultimately shaped that path: infertility and a chronic Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. Despite experiencing debilitating physical, emotional, and mental symptoms, I was repeatedly told that my blood work was “normal.” Unsatisfied with simply managing symptoms, I turned to functional nutrition to uncover the root causes of my health challenges.
That experience transformed my perspective. I discovered firsthand that food has the power to nourish, support heal, and restore the body when paired with the right lifestyle habits. It reinforced my belief that people should never feel resigned to living with symptoms when there may be a deeper answer.
Inspired by my own journey, I returned to school while working part-time as a personal trainer and earned my certification as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. In 2023, I founded Balance Vitality with a mission to help others restore their health, lose weight(if necessary), and create sustainable lifestyle habits through personalized nutrition and movement.
Outside of my practice, my greatest joy is raising my two children. We live an active lifestyle together—they often ride their bikes alongside me during runs, help with meal preparation, enjoy baking, and even join me in juicing fresh produce. As a marathon runner and strength-training enthusiast, I strive to lead by example, teaching them that healthy living is built on small, consistent habits rather than perfection.
Today, I feel incredibly grateful to be doing what I love. Helping others regain their energy, improve their health, and build lifelong habits is more than my profession—it is my purpose. My hope is to empower every client to realize that lasting wellness isn’t achieved through quick fixes, but through sustainable choices that support a healthier, more vibrant life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey of building a business has been anything but easy. Like any entrepreneur, I’ve faced my share of challenges, uncertainty, and sleepless nights. As a single mother and the sole provider for my two children, there has been an added layer of responsibility and pressure. Starting a business from the ground up comes with inevitable highs and lows, and there have certainly been moments when I questioned whether I had made the right decision.
But every challenge has reaffirmed my purpose. The opportunity to help someone reclaim their health, restore their confidence, and improve their quality of life is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that I have the privilege of making a meaningful difference in people’s lives reminds me why I chose this path, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
One area that continues to challenge me is marketing. It doesn’t come naturally to me and often feels outside of my comfort zone. I’m far more passionate about working directly with my clients than promoting myself. However, I’ve learned that growing a business requires embracing discomfort, and each day I continue to push myself, knowing that sharing my message allows me to reach and help more people.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health. Every client begins with a comprehensive assessment that explores their current symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle habits, stress levels, health history, and personal goals. From there, I create a customized, whole-food, nutrient-dense action plan designed to meet their unique needs and support long-term, sustainable health.
Through one-on-one coaching sessions grounded in science-based research, I help clients understand the powerful connection between nutrition and the body’s systems. My goal is not only to provide a plan, but to educate and empower each person to reconnect with their body, recognize what it needs, and make informed choices that support lifelong wellness. Following the initial assessment, we meet monthly, with ongoing support and check-ins between appointments to ensure clients feel encouraged and accountable throughout their journey.
I work with individuals of all ages and stages of life, helping clients navigate a wide variety of health concerns, including autoimmune conditions, hormone imbalances, chronic fatigue, digestive disorders, weight management, and overall lifestyle optimization. I also enjoy working with children and families, helping establish healthy habits early in life.
What truly sets my practice apart is the relationship I build with each client. I believe healing is a partnership, and I am committed to walking alongside my clients every step of the way. I celebrate their successes, help them navigate challenges, and provide the support they need to stay consistent. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone who has struggled with symptoms for years finally regain their health, energy, and confidence. Witnessing those transformations is why I do what I do.
Many people view nutrition as restrictive or overwhelming, often assuming they will have to give up all of the foods they love. My philosophy is quite the opposite. Nutrition is not about deprivation, fad diets, or quick fixes—it is about creating a balanced, sustainable lifestyle. My clients learn how to nourish their bodies while still enjoying life’s celebrations and occasional indulgences. By understanding how the body functions from the inside out, they gain the knowledge and confidence to make choices that support both their health and their happiness.
Because meaningful, lasting change takes time, I offer a six-month membership program designed to help clients build habits that truly last a lifetime. With multiple program tiers available, every plan is tailored using a bio-individual approach, ensuring each client receives the personalized support, education, and guidance they need to achieve their health goals.
What does success mean to you?
To me, success looks different for everyone. It isn’t defined solely by career achievements or accolades—it’s about living a life that reflects your values and brings genuine fulfillment.
I am incredibly grateful for my two amazing, healthy, and happy children, my own health, a home filled with love, and a career that allows me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. While I have been fortunate to accomplish many goals throughout my journey as both an athlete and an educator, my greatest measure of success is much more personal.
Every day, I strive to lead by example. I want my children to see the value of resilience, kindness, hard work, and taking care of both their bodies and their minds. If they grow up believing that health is a gift to be nurtured, that challenges can become opportunities, and that it’s possible to build a life rooted in purpose and passion, then I know I have truly succeeded.
