Daily Inspiration: Meet Dr. Tracy Shroyer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tracy Shroyer.

Hi Dr. Shroyer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I knew I wanted to help others, and in the fall of 2019, I began thinking about launching my own business. Before I could get very far in the planning process, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I went through a double mastectomy and reconstruction, followed by a full hysterectomy in 2020, alongside the pandemic! That journey had me even more convinced I needed to launch my business, Upskill University, to help individuals upskill personally and professionally. Thankfully, I was able to officially launch my business in March of 2021 and am coming up on my one-year in business anniversary. It has not been easy, but I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to help lifelong leaners, whether they become a paying client of mine or not.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some great coaches along the way, and now, to help me stay focused on my business and doing what is necessary to get the word out on what I offer and how I can help people.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I actually have 3 job roles: a corporate employee full-time, an adjunct faculty member for an online graduate program, and an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, I focus on helping individuals to upskill personally and professionally. The top skills I’ve helped my clients with to date include accountability, career services, strategy, focus, project management, and time management. One thing that sets me apart from others in this space is my having lived through a lot of the experiences I help others with, which helps me to relate to them a bit more than others may. Also, I have a knack in seeing the big picture (strategy vision), and being able to break out and organize the tactical action plans.

What I am most proud of would be helping job seekers to realize their value and become more confident in their worth.

What’s next?
Although it’s only been a year for me in business, I have seen and developed many solutions to help my ideal clients. Moving forward, I’m excited to incorporate opportunities for my fellow entrepreneurs to offer their courses, groups, and services as part of the Upskill U umbrella, whether by creating an Upskill original course or group, or serving as a reverse affiliate.
