Daily Inspiration: Meet Tosha Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tosha Love

Hi TOSHA, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started making charcuterie during the pandemic. My friend Julie and I had decided to do a at home paint and sip. She had went and bought all the things for what would be a meat and cheese tray with some fruit and she had threw it on a board. And I was just curious to play around with it on the board cause I had seen videos of other people making them. And so I rearranged what she had on the board and I had a great time doing it. So then I started to make on my own more for family events and would specialize in making them specific for that event or for a particular family member. And my friend Julie said you should do this as a business. And I was like why would anyone wanna buy this from me.? So when I was at church one day, one of our pastors said that if you have a side hustle that you are wanting to do now is the time to step into that as long as it aligns with what God has for you. And I kept feeling this prompt to go forward and do something with this skill that I had discovered and enjoyed doing. So on sweetest day, Oct 2020 I decided to do my first sale of small charcuterie boxes. And it was a hit! And so I’ve been doing it ever since specializing in different events and customizing to go boxes and grazing tables and letter boards and more! Anything that people can think of that will elevate their party or event I try to do through charcuterie. Lastly, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without my incredible mother, Yvonne. She has been my rock through out all of this. She’s retired but has stepped in to helping me run my business with no questions asked. I respectfully and lovingly call her “The Boss”. Her and I ARE Lil Bits N Bites

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There was a short period of time that I felt like giving up because I wasn’t moving as fast as I thought I should within my business. But then I realize that the pace that I’m at is perfect because I still work a full-time job and a mom. So to be able to do this part-time and mainly on the weekends worked out great and continues to work within my schedule.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a black and woman on charcuterie business. I specialize in making customize to go charcuterie boxes, letters, grazing tables and cups. I’d like to make sure that each order is specific to that event or that person so that it is special to them. Right now I am known for our char-cups which is basically a charcuterie in a cup that you can walk around with. These are perfect for school, big events, weddings, work, events, etc. One of my favorite types of boards to make are for kids. The fact that parents are allowing kids to get to experience something special that is specifically for them always brings me joy. To see the kids faces when they receive their personalized board is always a treat and as a mom, it just takes me back to making things specific for my boys when they were little. I believe our work makes us stand out but also our customer service and making the experience easy but special is what makes us set apart from others. My prices are reasonable so that anyone would be able to have the experience of enjoying charcuterie.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the fact that our city supports black owned businesses. There’s been a lot that has popped up in the last four years and it is such an amazing experience to watch and be a part of. One of the things I like, least about our city is the minimum education that certain students in lower income areas are getting. Kids need to know that there are other jobs that don’t require a college education like owning your own business. I know there are programs out there that are teaching kids these things, but I just wish there were more kids involved.
