Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylor Newsome

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Newsome.

Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have always taken photos it did not matter where we are or what we are doing. You can always count on me for capturing photos where we are. Pictures are everything to me. One of the things I have learned growing up is no one lives forever, and photos are all we will have once that moment comes.

I started Newsome Photography in January 2022. I wanted to be able to provide photos to more than just the people near me. I believe photos should not be as expensive as a car payment, etc. because you never know when that family photo session or group session is the last time you may have a photo with someone, and I do not want someone choosing not to get photos done because they were too expensive. Not everyone is here forever, and when that time comes the moments I help capture help keep their memory alive.

My husband is hands down one of the biggest people I owe a thank you to for me being where I am today with my photography. He encourages me to follow my dreams and to continue running after my dreams. As well as my friends who are constantly sharing and using word of mouth to help build my business as well as always there when I need to get some input on session ideas.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever a smooth road; smooth roads don’t get you where you want to be in life either.

Some things that have been a struggle was building clientele at the beginning. It is also not always a smooth road learning new things. I am always learning something new with my business, whether it’s new editing styles or equipment. Learning new things and struggles along the way help me grow, and I am thankful for those because not only am I learning new things, I’m overcoming any issues that is thrown my way as well.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aside from Photography, I work full-time as a customer service representative in collections department. I love what I do; I not only work for an amazing company. I also get to assist people day in and day out, and you never know what they’re going through on the other side of the phone, so you get the good stories and the bad stories and get to just be there for them through those tough times they are encountering. I have also recently opened a detailing business called Diamond Detailing with my husband as well, and that is going great; I couldn’t be more proud of myself for how far I have come these last few years. Some things that set me aside from others is how talkative I can be. Especially when it comes to my photography, our sweet son, or my full-time job. I could talk forever about them, which with collections is a good thing as well because knowing what I’m doing as well as being talkative helps, so there is no silence while I’m assisting them with their issues.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Calendars or planners they are definitely my life. I have to write everything down so I know exactly when something is or going to be. I have a specific Calendar on my phone, 2 separate ones on my laptop, and I have 2 physical planners I write in and are always with me. If I’m missing one or one gets placed somewhere, I don’t place it; I get antsy until I find it.
