Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Madison.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was a child, I began my journey into the entertainment industry by participating in the Missoula, Traveling Children’s Theater. After two seasons, performing at the notable and historical Midland Theater in Newark Ohio, I went on to pursue acting in high school. While I enjoy the performing aspect and being on stage, I realized that my true passion was television and movies. When I became an adult, I dove headfirst into the industry. I put myself out there, emailed as many casting directors, production companies, and filmmakers as I could.
Networking has always been one of my stronger suits, I’ve never felt shame in walking up to someone and telling them how much of a fan I was and that I would love to work with them one day. That courage is what got me to where I am today.
I am a professional and full-time actor, signed with Heyman talent agency. I have 6 feature films under my belt, and many more slated for the 2023 to 2024 season.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing about the entertainment. Industry is smooth or easy. The statement “it’s all who you know.” is very much truth. You hear that statement a lot in the industry because more than half of your job as an actor it’s to Network yourself. A lot of my job is maintaining a presence both online and in person so that filmmakers see my dedication to the craft and want to work with me…
While networking has always been one of my stronger assets in the industry, I struggle with mental illness. There are days when I can’t find the energy to post online, or send an email, or interact with people in general. And when you’re in a business that relies on communication, having days like that make it difficult.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor who specializes in comedy/improv, and I have a flair for horror. I’m known for my roles in feature films such as: How I Got Here, Phantom Fun World, and Wolf Hollow, and The Demons Within…
Something that I am most proud of is my dedication to the craft. When you’re working in the horror industry specifically, you have to be OK with getting dirty. One of my favorite things about the Horror industry as an actor is that I get to be covered in blood, running around, screaming for my life, and it’s not looked at as corny or cheesy. I’m proud of the skills and the talent that I have acquired and learned over the years to make a believable and memorable performance.
One of the things that I think sets me apart from the others, is that I am incredibly dedicated. I never give less than 110% in any scene. In fact, that dedication usually presents itself in many bruises and a hoarse voice, (I should probably work on that.)
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love to make people laugh. There’s something so extremely satisfying when people are laughing and being happy. Apart from that, I find happiness in the simple things: a home-cooked meal, movie nights with my partner and my dogs, working out, and staying active.
