Today we’d like to introduce you to Sol Fro
Hi Sol, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Kyilah (key-eye-luh) Jones but my artist name is Sol Fro, meaning that I have a big soul, big hair & big goals as an upcoming & independent music artist/producer born and raised in the Queen City of Cincinnati. At the age of 1, my dad would set up a mic and camera and let me perform and look at myself dance on tv. Where I come from is a family of musicians and artists, My mother was in a rapping group with my Aunt, while my dad was a DJ at local downtown clubs. I remember being young going to my dad’s rehearsal and dancing to the music on stage, at this moment I knew I wanted to be a star. I started playing the piano in church, praise dancing and attending choir. During this time, I started writing and producing my own songs at the age of 12 and learning how to play by ear with instruments such as a guitar, piano, or drums. I started taking it seriously when I became motivated again at the age of 23 and uploaded my first single “Yop Yup” to all platforms. Currently, I am now attending college to obtain my degree in audio production and aim to graduate in 2025!
I am constantly motivated by my peers and family and I will never give up on my goals. My goal as an artist is to motivate my city/family and myself to keep hustling & moving forward no matter how tough the situation may get.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s not easy being an artist, sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated or to find the right words. Being consistent is key, and often I come to a point where I can’t finish a song or can’t find the right note or bring the right cadence. My struggle right now is my cadence, I feel like I have a lot of different flows, and finding the right cadence while keeping my signature sound can be difficult at maintaining throughout the song. Also I sometimes struggle with stage performance, seeing a bunch of people often makes me nervous but I try to transfer this energy into a more positive and energetic performance to hype myself and interact with the crowd
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in songwriting, music production and graphic design. Also, I am known for making funny videos and being an artist on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube. What I am most proud of is producing and marketing my own music and being able to make it to 2.3K followers on YouTube. What sets me apart from others is my diversity within my music and styles that I pick up. Also, I create my own style of music and flow to motivate myself and others to keep hustling, be positive, and consistent.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being consistent, confident, committed and adaptive are what I feel is important to my success because without these things you will not be able to reach your goal on time, potential nor grow within your career.
