Daily Inspiration: Meet Raven Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Walker.

Hi Raven, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I think I’ve always loved baking. It just provides a very good nostalgic feeling for me. I still enjoy sitting in my nanas kitchen while she cooks or bakes, and we just talk about life. I started baking in high school; I’d bake Christmas cookies for friends and family; it was a yearly tradition. From there this hobby has grown to a small business. I’ve been baking for profit for about 6 years. I started with cakes and picked up a love for decorated cookies along the way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing worth having comes easy. Around the same time, I began learning the ins and outs of decorating and business. I worked night shift as a nurse and had just become a new mom… Now, I’ve got a rhythm, and all is well. I’m grateful for any struggles as they help us to appreciate things more and practice gratefulness.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a cottage baker (that means I work out of my home). I specialize in custom-decorated cakes and cookies for all occasions (Weddings, Birthdays, Corporate Events, etc.). I’m most known for my detailed cookies and tasty cakes. I’m most proud of the connections and friendships I’ve made in the Columbus Baking community. How many people can say they’re a part of such a talented, friendly, amazing group?

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
