Today we’d like to introduce you to Qiana Taylor.
Qiana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started back in 2020 when my mother purchased a Cricut machine for me. I used that machine to launch my first business. Unfortunately, that business failed in 2023. I felt defeated at first, and then life took over — before I knew it, nearly three years had passed. When I finally stepped back into entrepreneurship, I tried to pick up where I left off, but the passion I had then just wasn’t the same. I went through several transitions in what I wanted to offer, all within a matter of months, before I landed where I am now.
The reason I stepped into wellness is personal. During the time I was away from business, I went on a healing journey of my own. I went through therapy and counseling to overcome the hurt and traumas of my past — and I walked that journey alone. I wanted to create a space where women know they are not alone. Beyond that, spreading love and positivity has always been who I am at my core, so wellness and helping others wasn’t a pivot at all. It was a homecoming.
Today, I’m running Heart & Hand Co., a wellness and lifestyle brand based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our mission is to walk alongside women on their healing journeys, providing the tools, resources, and community they need to heal, grow, and evolve. We do this through guided journals, free-writing journals, affirmation card decks, transformative workshops, sisterhood, motivational videos — and soon, our podcast. Our vision is to one day open a wellness center for women within our community. We are rooted in purpose and on a mission to empower women to invest in themselves.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road. There were countless days and moments when I doubted myself — when I felt like I didn’t have what it takes to do what I’m doing, or even what I’m trying to do now. There were late nights and early mornings. There were times when sales were slow and I wanted to quit.
And then there’s the juggling act. I run this business while working a full-time 9-to-5 and raising two teenagers — all while trying to grow, and still keep some time for myself and my personal life. That balance is not always the easiest to find. But every struggle has taught me something, and every time I’ve wanted to quit, I’ve found a reason to keep going instead.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
By day, I’m a Relationship Banker from 9 to 5. In that role, I work with consumers and business owners, assisting them with their financial needs, education, and confidence. In many ways, my day job and my business share the same heart — both are about helping people believe in themselves and build a stronger future.
In my world of entrepreneurship, I’m known for creating journals, statement tees, motivational videos, and other creative products. What I’m most proud of is that I continuously show up — for myself first, and for others, consistently. That consistency has paid off: I’ve competed in three pitch contests and taken first place in two of them.
What sets me apart is my passion for what I do. One thing I’m especially proud of is my self-guided journal — a tool designed to help women heal, live with intention, grow, and become. It’s packed with prompted reflections, affirmations, and activities that keep women engaged in their own journey. I’m currently working on a monthly membership that will give women a monthly check-in and someone to help hold them accountable. I also offer free motivational videos and a blog, with a podcast on the way.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m a reader — some of my favorites are The Let Them Theory, Atomic Habits, Good Vibes, Good Life, and Choosing Me, among many others. I also listen to podcasts about growth, finances, business marketing, and other aspects of running a business.
But my two most important resources are personal. I journal for myself — I don’t just create journals, I use them. And I still work with my therapist, just to have a space to vent without judgment. Healing isn’t something I finished and moved on from; it’s a practice I keep, and it’s what allows me to pour into other women authentically.
