Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul And Elizabeth Calhoun
Hi Paul and Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After working for a few tattoo shops, realizing some of the issues that go on between some artists, my wife and I decided to open our own tattoo shop. Our vision consists of offering a place where artists can grow and work on their craft in a drama free and positive work space. To our clients, we offer a completely different experience than what they may be used to in the past. From snacks to cold soft drinks or water, we offer it. This helps make our loyal clientele comfortable and excited about there experiences here at Royal Prevail Tattoo. Each artist and picked based off experience, artwork, character who share the same visions in a tattoo shop or work environment.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the challenges we faced were pretty normal starting a shop. We kinda jumped in with our vision and both feet. It has paid off so far.
Part of our vision is to be helpful to each other. This includes helping and supporting other tattoo shops that want it our value boosting each other up. Unfortunately that’s not always the case. Some artists and shops local to us started drama by creating fake reviews and slandering our name. We overcame this challenge by keeping a smile on our faces and focusing on our vision, which in turned caused more popularity with the locals, resulting in a larger clientele for us. At the end of the day we will still be us no matter what life brings. If we get knocked down five times, we get up and dust off with more strength six times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve been a tattoo artist for around fourteen years. My wife, Liz takes care of the financial parts of owning the business as well as tooth gems and teeth whitening.
I don’t really specialize in any one style. I love it all! My favorite is horror and dark creepy imagery.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Not to sound cliche, but my childhood wasn’t the greatest. Too much to go into, but I’ve learned to push forward and stay strong in even the worst of situations.

- $900 for a half day session
- $1,500 for a full day session
