Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Alfarah
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey in the online content creation space in late 2021. One of my clients at my business banking job was struggling with marketing post pandemic. I decided to try to suggest using social media and they were not very interested in that path. I decided to try it myself for 90 days so I could speak better to that topic and help my client. I started posting videos of the dinners I would make as well as some fun experimental recipes. After a few weeks, I was hooked! I kept finding new recipes and ideas to bring to my content and eventually found myself as a full fledged content creator by late 2022. I started providing guidance to local businesses through presenting at Chamber of commerce meetings, holding master classes with Economic Development offices across 5 counties, and giving guidance to businesses one on one. I’ve been able to do that all for free and give back to my community in a fun and exciting way. By early 2023, I started to see frequent success with my recipes and videos. In early February 2023, I posted a video inspired by a recipe my friend Jorts Kitchen posted. it was called Cowboy Butter, and this video has amassed over 70 million views total on my channel, and over 100 million additional views from repost channels and various major media outlets that featured it. This large spike in visibility got me on the radar of a large talent agency, as well as opened the door for a book deal! I started traveling all over when possible, and meeting fellow creators, partners in the space, and building up my network. Eventually I was approached to appear in Multiple TV shows, and was selected for one on Fox, and Another on Food Network. 2023 was a rollercoaster that was called off with me converting my 2 car garage into a production studio so I could pursue content at a higher level. And through 2024 I have continued to open doors, meet amazing people, and I am currently in the production phase of my own cooking competition with a friend that I’ll be able to share more about soon!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With success, comes a bumpy road… and when you find success on the internet you can expect quite a few potholes. I have had struggles with finding the right team to work with, peaks and valleys in video performance, being told I should change my content and approach to suit others, and deal with constant criticism because of the current state of social media. And with all that said, I wouldn’t change a thing! You develop thick skin, you get used to the cyclical nature of content performance, and find your own voice and stand your ground over time when it comes to your identity in the content space.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in making great food more accessible by using many social media platforms to highlight incredible takes on popular food and walk people through how to make it. I’m know for my unique steak experiments, Wild Smashburger recipes, and cooking some incredible BBQ and grilled food!
What makes you happy?
Sharing what I love with people all over the world, while both opening the door to meet amazing people I now call friends…. And more importantly, showing my son what hard work and following your passion can really get you!
