Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Jackson.
Hi Melissa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Gold Arrow Studios in 2017 after the birth of my 4th child. I have always loved to design, so when thinking through what I would love to create I instantly navigated to jewelry. As a busy mom, I wanted pieces that were pretty, functional, and could transition easily from grocery shopping to dinner in the evening. I wanted to be able to provide jewelry to women like myself…constantly on the go but still wanting to look and feel pretty while running errands. It has been such an amazing journey so far and I have learned so much in the four years I have been in business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not! Nothing worth doing is smooth. Many learning curves along the way from materials I use and not use, to where to events to partake, to juggling my four kids, very busy schedules while also having a husband who travels a lot for work. I call my life organized chaos with tons of learning along the way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have always loved art and designing, so diving into jewelry making to me seemed the right path for me to take. With my jewelry I am able to create beautiful pieces out of natural stones, mixed metals, feathers, you name it! Nature is my inspiration behind all of my pieces. I became completely engulfed in natural oils so my line has transitioned into creating aromatherapy pieces for those who enjoy diffusing oils while on the go. This line has proven to be a great seller since more and more people looking for a more holistic approach to their health. From kids to adults, aromatherapy bracelets are a great way for those to take in the many benefits therapeutic grade essential oils offer. I am extremely proud of how I run my business. I want to get to know each of my customers, a lot of them come to develop relationships with whether it is virtual or in person. My customers know that I am there for them to answer questions, maybe guide them to the right piece to fit what they are looking for, or even to create a piece from a vision they have. Customer service to me is the highlight to your business, it’s what keeps people coming back to you.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when I was about 9 my friend and I would sit down and create these beautiful crayon art pieces and would sit on her patio and try to sell them to whoever would come by. It was just me and her being creative and at a young age learning to be entrepreneurs. We probably didn’t sell a ton, but it was the mere thrill of it all that kept us going.
