Hi Marcel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Marcel Dear, but my stage name Marquis Storm. I’m an artist, songwriter, & podcaster. I’ve been podcasting since 2020 and since then this brand Sip & Chill has taken me to new heights that I couldn’t even imagine that I would be at. From elevating my music, interviewing different artist and musicians, to NBA All-star weekend events & even the Grammys.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The Road hasn’t always been a smooth one. I’ve lost friends in this industry from my music to my podcasting. This is a very not just competitive industry but very opinionated industry as well, and not everyone is gonna be on your side. I have learned the people you root for can envy you when you snag their spot, but also, I learned that at the end of the day, the entertain industry is fierce and competitive, but if you stay the course and focus and align yourself with good people, you will make it in this industry.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well, while I’m a recording artist, I’m also a podcaster whose reach has been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to elevate my music and other artist music with my podcast SIP &CHILL PODCAST and honestly, I’m most proud of that because I’ve been able to bring people together and interview people from all walks life from the most local artist from my city of Cleveland, Ohio to the Grammy-nominated songwriter from Los Angeles to the most up-and-coming artist from all around the world from Quebec Canada to South Africa, to even Sydney Australia.
How do you define success?
To be honest, I define success as a motivator in order to be even more successful and to find more reason to pursue your journey in order to be the best person you can be while influencing others around you. Mind you though 2023 has been a great year for me my journey still isn’t finished, my latest success was that I was ranked in the Top 3 in Cleveland Scene Magazine Best of 2023, and my Podcast Sip & Chill has been nominated for the 3rd year in a row For Best podcast at the Ohio Entertainment Awards.
