Daily Inspiration: Meet Lydia Puccini and Kayleigh Hyland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Puccini and Kayleigh Hyland.

Hi Lydia and Kayleigh, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We, Kayleigh Hyland and Lydia Puccini, formed LILIEAE a few years back. The lineup evolved over the first year before we solidified official bandmates. After playing drums on the “Level” EP, Joe Stefano decided to join LILIEAE as a permanent member. Guitarist Donald Pelc filled in for numerous shows plus recorded on the “Level” EP. He joined the band shortly after as well. Once the band had a regular lineup, the four of us decided our sound would benefit from a second guitarist. Insert Eric Kennedy. After posting online about looking for an additional guitarist, Eric answered our advertisement and quickly joined the band. Unfortunately, we were only able to play one show as the full band at the Happy Dog in Cleveland before the pandemic hit. During this time, we worked on new music and perfecting our live set.

In May of 2021, we played our first show since Covid-19. Ever since we have been gigging regularly, including playing a show at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and playing our first shows down in Akron. We released our second EP in October of 2021, called “Run! Run! Run!” Our 2022 concert schedule is ramping up at the beginning of the year with a show at Coda with FAWX and Mild Animals, plus a show at the Beachland with the Dollyrots in early March.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Solidifying the lineup from the very beginning has been our main obstacle- which we are happy that have overcome.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We play rock music, mostly leaning towards Alternative. We were stoked to release our second EP last October. We are currently working on new material that we are excited to play for you in 2022. Our band is co-fronted by two women, Lydia on vocals and Kayleigh on bass and back-up vocals. Donald and Eric both play lead guitar and Joe brings the energy on drums.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Our commitment to the band is very important to our success. We practice every week and make sure that we always have something to work on.
