Daily Inspiration: Meet Logan Oleson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Oleson.

Logan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started taking photos in 2015 in my sophomore year of highschool. I bought my first camera after taking a digital photo class and never really put it down. It was some cheap nikon but it taught me all the fundamentals. I pretty quickly started shooting all the time and every subject matter from family photos to nature photography. Throughout highschool and I started to develop a style and narrowed in on more specific subject matter, mainly in the outdoor/climbing industry. By the time i graduated and started college i had done a decent amount of freelance work but during covid i dealt with some health issues that prevented me from shooting and from 2020-2023 i hardly touched my camera. I moved to from the Chicago suburbs to cincinnati in that time to attend xavier university where i studied advertising and studio art. During my time at xavier i had a few internships in the marketing/advertising space doing content creation but it never felt quite right. After graduating in 2023 i found a job doing e-commerce/product photography full time which i still do. But in the summer of 2024 i fell in love with the queer underground dance music scene in Cincinnati and knew i hard to capture it. So i started bringing my camera with me on nights out and the fire was reignited. Since then ive met the most talented people and have got to work on projects that i dreamt about as a sophmore in highschool. Now i am trying to expand my horizons more into the fashion/nightlife space.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It wasn’t necessarily a hard road but it wasnt a clear path either. Truthfully i never thought id be a photographer fulltime. It wasnt a particular goal of mine i just love to take photos and capture moments i find beautiful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do e-commerce photography fulltime for an auctionhouse in the fashion and art department. Addition i freelance with multiple artists and companies in the Cincinnati area. I regularly shoot for bars/clubs, djs, preformers, and vintage/clothing stores.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Probably growing up racing bmx bikes with my dad and brother. The while culture was so counter cultural and creative.
