Daily Inspiration: Meet Liev Williamson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liev Williamson

Hi Liev, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I first got into modeling very recently, however my interest in fashion goes back as far as middle school. I went to a pretty rural school district so everyone kind of looked and dressed the same, I started trying new (albeit awkward) styles and tried to differentiate myself from the rest of my peers. As high school came along my drive to try and be different only got more potent, I got into graphic design and art in general and I remember Junior year I bought my first ever designer outfit. It was a pair of Makobi pants and a hoodie, looking back I barely wear them, but they stand as a tribute to the beginning of my fashion journey. Ever since getting into college I have been freelance modeling with local photographers, my dream is to be able to get into High fashion so hopefully I’ll get there through perseverance.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all, One of the main things I have been training myself to not do is compare my looks or fashion to those of others. I think its easy to start lamenting about how bad we have things, but we never look at how far we have come either. I have been discouraged by many different things, whether that be people that doubt me or maybe financial hardship, I have taught myself to turn that into all the more reason to try and outshine them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Right now my main focus is being a freelance model, looking around for various representation in order to advance myself out of freelancing. As a main job I’m actually an afterschool teacher at the YMCA, when im not doing that though im planning shoots and looking for pieces. I would say my drive sets me apart from others. For some people I have seen a’lot of gigs or milestones have been handed to them on a silver platter, everything I have gotten and every hurdle I have jumped over has been through my own volition. I have worked up unto this point and I will continue to do so until I have attained my goals.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I definitely plan to be done with freelancing and signed with an agency by then, again the main goal is to be somewhere closer to the high fashion industry
