At Senior Music Connection, we believe in the profound and lasting power of music. Founded on the simple yet powerful idea that music transcends age, our story began with a desire to bridge generations and enrich the lives of seniors through melody and rhythm.

We witnessed firsthand the joy and connection that music can spark, the memories it can unlock, and the comfort it can provide. This inspired us to create interactive music sessions where seniors can explore, engage with, and share their love of music.

Our journey has been one of listening, learning, and growing alongside the vibrant senior community. We are committed to offering accessible and engaging musical experiences, fostering a sense of belonging, and celebrating the unique musical journeys of each individual we serve.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s undeniably tough when we lose the seniors we connect with. Even though we understand that our time with them is limited, and we know we bring joy and purpose to their final years, saying goodbye is always difficult.

It’s the little things that stay with us – remembering where someone sat, their favorite melodies, or the heartfelt stories they shared from their past. These memories, while precious, can also make it challenging to return to the spaces we shared.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Every day, I feel immense gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate life and create music with our senior community. Their wealth of wisdom and history is truly inspiring. I find great joy in selecting songs that help them recall cherished memories, find strength through pain, and experience happiness, especially during their final days.

While I value working with large groups, I particularly cherish the moments spent with smaller groups where deeper connections and sharing can flourish. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness how participating in music can bring someone out of their shell. Often, I see a noticeable transformation in a person’s willingness and enjoyment within just one session. Observing their self-esteem and overall demeanor improve in such a short time together is a powerful reminder of music’s impact and the importance of sharing it.
