Daily Inspiration: Meet Justin Gamble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Gamble.

Hi Justin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My grandfather, who passed away before I was a year old, was a photographer. Between my general lack of artistic ability and desire to find a connection to him, I decided my junior year of high school to take a photography class for my art credit. At that point, while I was taking silly photos of my friends and random trees in the park, I didn’t know it but that camera was going to profoundly impact my life.

I decided to study Commercial Photography at Ohio University where I received my degree and afterwards began working in the profession full time. After experiences in multiple studios producing a variety photos and videos – from in studio portrait sessions up to large scale commercial productions and even exotic car photography – I started Justin Gamble Photography LLC at the end of 2019 and by August of 2020 I left my studio job to pursue JGP full time and in April of 2022, I opened Justin Gamble Photography’s storefront studio located in the heart of downtown Cuyahoga Falls.

Justin Gamble Photography is one of Northeast Ohio’s premier wedding, portrait, and commercial studios. Our focus is simple – to provide our clients with a full service photographic experience. We strive to provide every client with a creative professional approach, personalized service, and premium quality.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If you find a path in entrepreneurship that is a smooth road, let me know – I would love to know what industry that is!

Joking aside, overall, it’s been a great experience thus far. Earlier this year I explained to a friend of mine, “When working for yourself, the ups are the greatest highs you’ve ever felt. It’s a direct reflection of the hard work you’ve put in paying off and it feels incredible. But the downs are some of the toughest moments I’ve experienced. You have nobody to blame but yourself, and it can feel incredibly defeating.”

I’ve faced many of the same struggles as other business owners like running my business during the pandemic, sacrificing parts of my personal life in order to grow my business and serve my clients, slow seasons that can feel like they’re never going to end, and so much more. But those struggles are honestly so worth it and this is my favorite job I’ve ever had.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We provide a variety of services in the photo and video space. Justin Gamble Photography began as a wedding and portrait photography business, but expanded to offer videography services for weddings and events as well as photo booth services. We are a full service studio which means we guide our clients through their photography experience from consultation to reveal session. We don’t believe our job is done until our clients have the ability to display their photos as high quality customized artwork in their homes.

After several years of building out the wedding and portrait side of my business, I also registered a DBA for Justin Gamble Photography under BRIGHTN Commercial Productions to separate our corporate and commercial photo and video services from the wedding and portrait side of the business. BRIGHTN has been a focus of mine over the past year as I see the greatest opportunity to expand and improve our service offerings. At BRIGHTN, we specialize in headshots, studio photography/videography, corporate branding visuals, lifestyle and non-profit work.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I have always said that consistency and communication is what drives a business to be successful. When you show up consistently and put in the work, the payoff is always going to be more than what you put in. Communication is a pillar as well because it helps ensure expectations are set, projects are managed efficiently, and timelines are hit.
