Daily Inspiration: Meet January Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to January Hill.

Hi January , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve started doing hair because I would ask for a style or to get my hair done in a way that the market and demographic wasn’t ready for , so I did it myself ,,I’ve gotten to where I’m
At based off god and faith in myself , I pushed and shoved and broke down barriers for me … I was a mua first but hair felt like it needed a spaced filled ….i filled it ……. I worked and worked studied to be qualified to even enter the field .,after years on studying and working I broke that barrier down and got to work .. o don’t regret a thing being a mua turned hairstylist changed my life for the good and for forever I am booked in my city , when I go elsewhere they know my name and it feels amazing

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very very very hard road , coming from mua to hairstylist, it’s like people played with me , people looked at me like as if I wasn’t capable of doing work that they needed and or wanted to wear or wanted to see , nobody took me serious it’s like ohhh here we go another makeup artist who “can do hair “ when whole time I can really do HAIR ..so I had to
Fight and prove that I was worthy enough to sticking with the big dogs who do hair

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite memory is , being a kid watching my older aunts put in quick weaves before either we go to school on the morning or on the weekend I love seeing women put theirs selves together to come from less confident to that girl always spoke to me ..to go from nothing to something always make me feel a certain way in the hair community
