Daily Inspiration: Meet Hassan Qureshi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hassan Qureshi

Hi Hassan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From the earliest memories of my childhood in Pakistan, I’ve been captivated by the idea of capturing the world through art. My journey began with sketching the wildlife that surrounded me, and the encouragement from my family ignited my creative spirit. Over time, my exploration expanded beyond drawing, leading me to the realms of painting, murals, and now the historical and intricate art of Arabic calligraphy.

As a self-taught artist, my path has been one of self0-discovery and experimentation. This has helped me developed a unique, personal style—one that may not always be polished, but is deeply authentic. This process of self-discovery has allowed me to embrace a more heartfelt approach to my work.

Today, my growth as an artist is reflected in my commitment to sharing my craft with the community. I find immense joy in creating murals that bring spaces to life and in hosting workshops that inspire others to explore their own creativity. Each piece I create and every event I lead are opportunities to connect, share, and contribute to dialogue.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has certainly not been without its bumps. Like many artists, I’ve grappled with imposter syndrome, often feeling a nagging doubt when sharing my work or comparing it to others.

Being self-taught has brought its own set of challenges. Experimenting with new materials and techniques has sometimes felt like navigating uncharted waters. However, this approach has been a lesson in perseverance, shaping my approach and refining my craft. So much so that a part of that journey is included into the very artwork that I create.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would say that although I truly enjoy seeing a completed “hyper-realistic” wildlife painting, I’ve come to appreciate my Arabic calligraphy pieces more. And that’s mainly due to the scarcity of artists practicing Arabic calligraphy. This ancient art has allowed me to connect with a broader audience and shape the dialogue that I can have through my work.

I absolutely love creating custom Arabic calligraphy paintings for my clients. It’s a form of art that can be shaped to individual desires.
