Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Viera.
Hi Frank, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Started practicing/performing at fraternity events (2018).
A new bar opened in Downtown Youngstown and started djing there (The Social) roughly seven months until they abruptly closed down.
Because of their closing, I was unsure what was to come next.
Luckily, a bar called Quench got ahold of me shortly after and I have been there ever since.
Another local bar (Susie’s) got in contact with me to start djing.
From there, most local bars have gotten in contact with me to schedule bookings.
I have a residency at O’Donalds, Quench, and Susie’s.
There was an event held at my college; raising money for children with cancer.
As of last year, I was able to gather over $1,500 dollars to donate to Akron Children’s Hospital.
We would create live streams on a platform called Twitch, and I would also DJ the event.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The Social closing took a big toll on me and my job.
I was nervous about what is next, being so unsure of what other possibilities were out there.
As my opportunities then started to expand, I worked at a gay bar in Akron, until they abruptly fired me.
The struggles of figuring out to be a full-time DJ also impacted how I balanced that on top of the school.
Within my personal life, my parents moving to a different state was also something I was unprepared for. It seemed as though I was losing the closest people to me who had the most faith in me in prospering with what I loved doing the most.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I focus a lot on creating new and improved mixes/beats for my Youtube Channel.
I am one of the few in this industry around my location that have multiple social media accounts to promote my new mixes, beats, music videos, and events.
Along with djing, I have started hosting events that promote local artists.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
