Daily Inspiration: Meet Chris DiGiacomo

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Chris DiGiacomo.

Chris DiGiacomo

Chris, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
A long-time resident of Ashtabula, Ohio. My adulthood brought me back to the area where I established myself by purchasing the Framing Center, which was a 40-year-long business. I am the fourth generation of owners. I carried on the tradition of the business and relocated it to downtown Ashtabula in the Anderson and Sons Jewelry building. The Downtown district of Ashtabula, Ohio, is rich in history. At one time, before all the malls, this area was a prime location for anything and everything you would need. Clothing stores, jewelry, dining, theater, grocery, Shoe stores, Furniture stores, and the list goes on. Ashtabula was quite a metropolis, and then, like most other smaller downtowns, the trend of malls welcomed all the retailers to join them. Which became the demise of Downtown. In today’s world, communities are redeveloping their downtowns, and Ashtabula is on a mission to restore theirs. My store, Framed on Main, continues to provide custom museum-quality framing for many customers. In the store is a beautiful rotunda where I, the community donations, and other interested collectors helped build this collection of Downtown Ashtabula memorabilia. Displayed is an incredible array of things that speak of the great times and some tragedies of this great town dating from the mid-1800s to the present time. The store customers love to visit and rekindle the memories they remember. This display is projected to be the start of a museum for all to enjoy.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, we have great support from our community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a custom picture and art framer. We work with only quality conservation materials, such as UV protection glass, custom matte cutters, and acid-free mounting boards. Being an artist, our customers rely on my expertise with color and frame choices to create a great-looking and quality framed piece. I’ve been known to create some amazing memory boxes. These shadow boxes will display and preserve memorable heirlooms like military badges, flags, sports memorabilia, and the list goes on. We take pride in the experience you have, and we leave you with a good feeling. It’s a wonderful hometown frame shop that has been in existence for 40 years (I’m the 4the generation owner).

How do you define success?
Hard work and dedication. Enjoying what you do and surrounding yourself with successful people will bring you success.
