Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Vanscoder
Hi Chloe, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been going to Hailey for all my nail needs since 2020. She is not only an incredible nail artist but also an amazing person. Every time I walk into my appointments, I’m greeted warmly, and our conversations feel like catching up with a good friend. Over the years, we’ve established a strong bond, and I always look forward to my time with Hailey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey hasn’t been smooth at all. I’ve had plenty of ups and downs. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to work for myself, have the freedom to make my own schedule, and not have to answer to a boss. After graduating with a bachelor’s in education in 2018, I chose not to pursue a teaching career. Instead, I worked as a server in a restaurant and a stylist in a boutique until an opportunity in direct selling, or network marketing, came my way.
I saw great potential in it and did very well for a few years. But eventually, I hit a plateau and wasn’t earning what I used to. Still, my stubbornness kept me from returning to traditional employment. I turned to DoorDash, Instacart, and teaching online—anything that allowed me to stay self-employed rather than getting a regular job.
Eventually, I realized I needed to humble myself and get a full-time job, so I worked 40 hours a week for a year. Then, I stumbled across another opportunity—one that was exactly what I had been looking for. I’ve always loved videography, content creation, and of course, working for myself. I started freelancing while still working my full-time job, juggling both.
But I quickly realized I was missing out on bigger opportunities in freelancing because of my day job. After weighing my options, I decided to take the leap and leave the 9-to-5 behind. Since then, it’s been smooth sailing, and I’m confident this industry and my expertise is here to stay.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a content creator specializing in organic, authentic video ads for brands and companies. I’ve also explored videography for weddings and photography. Additionally, I work as an Amazon and TikTok affiliate, sharing products I genuinely love. My TikTok content is known for my humor, glimpses of my relationship with my fiancé, and my 12-year-old Jack Russell terrier.
My personal brand on TikTok is separate from my freelancing business. While I share my personal life and product recommendations through TikTok Shop (earning commission), I charge a flat rate for the video ads I create for brands through my freelancing business.
I’m most proud of my persistence and drive. I’ve always known I wanted something different, though I wasn’t always sure what it was or how I’d get there. Now, I wake up every day with purpose and passion, and for that, I’m incredibly thankful.
What sets me apart is my eye for detail and my love for capturing and sharing emotion, helping others feel a certain way through the content they see. My adaptability, willingness to push forward, and ability to understand various perspectives keep me grounded, even in life’s chaos.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey is to always stay humble and focus less on talking about your plans, and more on taking action to achieve them.
