Today we’d like to introduce you to Bittersweet Revenge
Hi Bittersweet , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We started out as a five piece Rock Band from Cleveland, Ohio with the roots of 90’s grunge music, and made a name for ourselves playing local venues. The band released their debut album “Untrustworthy” (2018) and quickly followed with “Break ‘Em” (2019). We were seeing a lot of success and things were looking really good for the future of Bittersweet Revenge.
Then in 2020 our lead singer, guitarist and best friend Marky, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident. Marky was truly one of a kind and extremely talented and without him there did not seem to be any future for our band anymore. After some time we started to play again and wanted to start another band but couldn’t find a singer that fit well with our style.
Then one day our drummer was canoeing at Nelsons ledges and their was a kid in another canoe singing away and he was sold. That’s how we discovered Mikey. Our current singer. Then we also brought on Tom Farkas, Markys childhood best friend as lead guitarist. And we all just clicked. And collectively we made a difficult decision of the band name. We decided to keep the legacy of Marky and Bittersweet Revenge alive by doing what Marky loved; Making music. So we kept the name Bittersweet Revenge and continued to do just that: Making great music.
With Mikey (Vocals) and Tom ( lead guitar) we released “A Love Once Lost” (2021), “Forgotten Tales” (2022) and “Turmoil” (2023) with the last EP of a four part series coming summer 2024.
Angel (Bass) is sure to bring the stage antics and showmanship that get everybody dancing, while Dennis (Drums) has been the X-factor in the bands networking success, in addition to being an absolute force behind the kit. Jake Jekyll & Tommy Farkas (Guitar) rings a hellacious fire of mayhem, and Mikey (Vocals) boasts a dynamic and distinct singing ability, sure to engage and entertain the audience.
Together we have been relentless. We played Inkcarceration last year which was a dream come true, We have opened up for Mushroomhead the past couple years and set to open up their Halloween show at the Agora in October. Have headlined numerous shows and was also voted as “Best Rock Band” at The Cleveland Music Awards” in 2023 and nominated again in 2024 which will be held on August 25th at Temple Live Cleveland.
We have been really busy and are extremely thankful for our fans and friends who we do this for and whose support has made this all possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Making music is never an easy process. Most people give up after their first album. Then add in losing your lead singer. For a long time we thought the band was over.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a rock and roll band from Cleveland, Ohio and we specialize in making great music that people love and can relate to.
We are known for our incredible performances, our sick riffs, and making music that rocks your soul and leaves you wanting more.
We are most proud that we never gave up. And we know that Marky ( our former singer) would be proud to.
What makes us different apart from our talent I think is just our pure drive and our love for making music. Every band member is absolutely passionate about music and the band. We are leaders and working hard to nurture our local rock scene by building a community with other bands and artists. And hopefully one day contribute to making Cleveland The Rock capital of the world.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
skill and talent. Without each of us being good at what we do we wouldnt be able to make very good music. But we also have a powerful stage presence, and of course having a deep connection with our fans. They are our driving force and keep us going.
