Daily Inspiration: Meet Aura Henre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aura Henre.

Hi Aura, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you! My name is Aura and I am a Canadian transformational mindset life coach and realism tattoo artist based out of Springfield, Ohio. I had a difficult childhood and was on my own at a young age, which helped shape me into the person I am today. I have always strived to be the person for others that I always needed, which is how my passion for people was born. As for my work, I had always had an interest in tattoos and there was something so sacred about the process that left me so fascinated. Through my life I had always been in creative fields; freelance photography, graphic design, doing freelance art, etc… Once I discovered life coaching and hired my first coach, I experienced how monumental coaching could be and I wholly transformed my everything. I began to learn the power we have to shift our lives and heal our relationships to self, and suddenly all of my goals and desires began to fall into place, which is how I got my foot in the door of my first tattoo shop.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When it comes to my tattooing, I got off to a rocky start. A lot of trial and error, but thankfully, with a lot of beautifully supportive clients, being rescued by another shop from my first one, and finding a long-distance realism mentor (Joshua Scott @midwestxjosh), absolutely everything changed for me. Honestly, though, I have progressed in my field at a rapid pace, and I believe a positive mindset and a lot of hard work has moved mountains for me. I’ve landed some amazing opportunities and networking is key.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My passion for people and art started at a young age. I’ve always dove straight for the hearts of people around me and in 2020, I finished life coaching school and launched my own business, coaching clients from across the globe. I began working primarily with women as a transformational empowerment and mindset coach; goal setting and helping my clients transform their lives by tweaking their mindsets, building self-love, helping them to reclaim themselves after a lifetime of conditioning to play small and societal programming of not-enoughness, leaving them riddled with a sense of powerlessness, low self-esteem, and no confidence. I realized a sickness of powerlessness in powerful women, we just needed to wake up to our capacity, and reminding people of who they are is my mission. When I began tattooing, I had the honor of sitting with so many people on an intimate level where we were still doing very similar soul work to the work I had been doing with my coaching clients, along with building confidence by celebrating the body, decorating and honoring it with tattoos placed there with intention. I began to intertwine both of my passions into one, creating an entire experience. Tattoo therapy is well known, but I wanted to take it further; I love to goal-set with my clients, get to the heart of their desires and discuss ways to heal their relationships to self, removing blockages from manifesting the lives they dream of, investing in self-compassion and confidence. Ultimately, we are the only ones who stand in our own way. Together, we dive deep into their hearts and needs and process a lot together. It’s truly an honor to have been able to spin my passions together and help make a difference in my clients’ lives. As for the technical stuff, I specialize in black and grey realism, with a focus on portraits. My twist is adding intention and infusing the piece with reiki energy, specifically to help my client achieve specific goals that we discuss in the beginning. The tattoo acts as a talisman or a reminder for self-love, authenticity, ownership, sovereignty, confidence, healing, boundaries, etc.…whatever supports the clients’ needs. It’s an emotional process but having my clients in tears as we dive deep into their desires is the utmost privilege to be trusted with, I’m truly honored to hold the space, and I absolutely love my work, it feels so fulfilling to make a difference and to help people learn to love and invest in themselves.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The Tattoo Guardian’s Podcast is a gem, I love the concept behind being guardians of this industry when a lot of tattoo artists have a bad reputation for being cold and too cool for school, not to mention not always being the safest environment for women. I love creating and working with a crew who facilitate a safe and welcoming environment.

A handful of my favorite books are:

True Balance by Sonia Choquette

Untamed by Glenon Doyle.

Pussy: A Reclamation by Regena Thomashauer

You Can Heal Your Life by Louis Hays

Rise Sister Rise by Rebecca Campbell

I believe all of these books were monumental in my person growth.

I have grown exponentially through the Tattoo Business Mastery course by Matt Clemmer, as well. Learning more about the way I want to do business from a heart-centered place with value.
