Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Ventura.
Hi Alyssa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
The Gifted Rose was created in late spring of 2020! With the shutdown in full swing, I was laid off from my job where I get to be around creative minds every day and I was craving that creative energy again. I started a new hobby of crafting wood signs and small gifts and had finally found the creative outlet I was looking for. I started small with drink wear and other small decor and grew into making wood door hangers. I found that’s where I was getting the most enjoyment out of my new hobby as well as the best feedback from friends and family. Then The Gifted Rose was born. I started receiving custom orders for front door hangers and different pieces from friends and thought, why not expand this? The idea behind The Gifted Rose was to create handmade gifts and signs that tie us back to our friends and family. All of our signs are named after strong, passionate women I have met through my life. The button we attach to the back of each sign is a reminder of the women who are no longer with us but were intricate parts of our lives and held us together. After selling to friends and family, word got out, and business owners were ordering signs and I created a strong business within the town of Cuyahoga Falls. While the pandemic slowed, and we returned to work, I had taken a new position in Strongsville. This is where The Gifted Rose really took off! Inside South Park Mall, I had seen this shop that featured local small businesses and allowed people to shop their items in a brick-and-mortar fashion. I contacted the owner, and the first space to shop The Gifted Rose in person was born! From there, we expanded to a second location in my hometown of Canton, Ohio, inside the Belden Village Mall. We hope to continue to spread cheer with our creations while impressing on women to take chances and chase their dreams.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way? Starting a business during the pandemic came with a lot of obstacles. Supply chain issues, the unknown of what would happen if businesses didn’t reopen, and much more. At one point, we couldn’t get the wood we needed for our sign orders. We had to look for other options, and eventually started to cut our own wood rounds for our signs because of the supply chain issues we were facing. So, when we say handmade, we mean it!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Gifted Rose is known for handmade custom signs and gifts. Our biggest seller is our handmade door hangers. Whether you are looking for a silly sign, something beautiful to celebrate your new home, or even to warn visitors about your dogs, we have it all! My favorites are always ones that give you a good chuckle like, “Welcome-ish, depends on who you are and how long you stay” or “Stay awhile but not too long? don’t make it weird.” But I also love custom orders. We take a lot of pride in our product, and we do our best to create the vision you are looking for. Consults are absolutely the best way to ensure you are getting what you had envisioned. We even take into consideration what your front door and home look like to make a decision on color choices and stain so that it pops on your front door!
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We love collaborating with other creators, especially when it comes to giving back. Reaching out on one of our various social media pages is a great way to get in touch or place an order to support our business. And of course, purchasing locally in one of our brick-and-mortar stores inside Blended, where you can also support other local small businesses.
