Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Bennett
Hi Alex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I started Gable Acres, I was pregnant with my fourth child and decided to take a chance on a few craft shows one month before she was born in 2019. I knew I needed a business name before I did any shows or markets, Gable Acres was the winner, named after my soul pup. I adopted Gable at about 3 months old in 2011. He would actually be sitting right beside me or under my feet when I was working on every new products or designs. He stayed right by me until he passed away in 2023. During those years my business has taken off, I sell products in 4 different store/shops in Ohio. I have met some of my best friends when I started this journey and couldn’t be happier.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Business has been pretty smooth or at least as smooth as it could be as a mom of four kids and 2 dogs! There have been some months with little to no new product whether it be from sick kids or dogs to being sick myself. It has been easier to keep on top of things now that my children are growing up.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My favorite things to make are items related to dogs/pets, such as sweatshirts and mugs. I am really proud of some of the different pet/rescues designs that I have created over the years, to raise money to go towards local animal rescues. I also do a lot of custom shirt orders that includes designing it and either bleaching or the dying the shirts and then applying the image. I also love making spirit wear for the local school districts.

That the name Gable Acres came from my dog Gabe aka “Gabe the babe”
