Conversations with Zakaya Thornton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zakaya Thornton.

Hi Zakaya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Majeur Galleria started with cosmetics and then during the pandemic, I rebranded into a boutique. During the pandemic my job was closed for months I worked in childcare. I had to find new way of generating income because I have a daughter. And that’s where Majeur Galleria started. I started selling headbands first and made $600 in one day. I soon enough reached popularity not only in Ohio but I have shipped to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, South Carolina, New York, Tennessee, Chicago, and more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had many challenges as a mother I’m only 23. Not only do I run a business, I’m a college student, a makeup artist, and a travel agent. Finding time for myself in the midst of that is hard. During the pandemic, it was hard to be a one-woman show I have to market and promote consistently being engaged in all social media, ship and pack orders and find inventory to stay relevant. It can be a lot on me. I had a lot of trial-and-error runs with running my business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently go to MSJ, I am a senior and, in the spring of 2023, I will be a professional certified teacher. I currently hold two degrees in early childhood education and arts.

On top of being a business owner, I’m a freelance makeup artist, I’m a travel agent, and a mom.

I brand myself as great because I do multiple things not one which I am very proud of especially being a young boss with a 3-year-old.

I’m always striving to have multiple things under my belt I been like this since a child. I had aspirations of doing multiple things.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is to have multiple storefronts. I want to mentor other small business owners. I would like to continue my education with my master’s. After I graduate in the spring.

I have currently moved to a suite where my business will grow in. 31 triangle park. I have high hopes and expectations for the future.

One day I would love to be a real housewives makeup artist lol.

I will continue to travel all over the world and help others purse such dreams.
